Default Middleton Hotel?

Does anyone know if or when the Middleton Hotel is supposed to open up?

The Middleton hotel to be built across from the high school hasn't been started yet. If they break gourd today I wouldn't expect it to open until sometime in late fall at best.

Perhaps the poster is thinking about the Eastport hotel?

I had no idea that Middleton is getting a hotel. Seriously seems extremely odd though for a hotel to be built in a residential area across from a high school. I'm kind of dreading thinking what kind of person/perpetrator that this would cater to.

Seriously didn’t your kids play sports? VHS is packed with tournaments, events, using both outdoor and indoor facilities. Why because the campus looks like a college with all the perks..it’s got an Olympic size pool, great indoor and outdoor facilities. It’s even got a Jumbotron, , how many HS have that.

The day hotel was announced in Middleton we thought it was a genius of an idea. Bring in large tournaments, parents book hotel room right next to event. Park car once, walk to event, restaurants, grocery, back to the hotel, multiple time in the day. Because anyone who kid played competitive sports, knows your entire weekend is jammed pack with schedules that barely allowed parents to grab decent food, much less take a nap in the car because you have to be back in an hour.

No worries of their kids finding a ride to and from event because little brother has a different game time. Older kids can watch that next game, with team, while parents take a break.

It’s like Disney keep them on property, make all their dreams come true, and make a profit. Best idea ever.

Yep my kids all played sports. Not once did we ever have a need to sleepover in the area of the opposing high school. Not to mention that most of the VHS opponents are from poorer areas where it's extremely unlikely the families would be staying in a fancy hotel, more likely a cheap motel in Wildwood or sleeping in a Walmart parking lot.

I'm not disputing at all that the VHS campus isn't amazing, I just don't see a hotel surviving as a 365 day a year business based on fairly rare scenarios being presented here. I know events happen frequently there but it's certainly not most nights. I've worked in the hospitality business and any occupancy averaging under 35% EVERY night of the year is pretty much a bankruptcy waiting to happen.

Spot on! Exactly why it is being built and also the close proximity to Eastport - two hotels that can serve the school events and when not occupied by the school uses it will help with overflow from Eastport events. Dual purpose that benefit both venues, smart planning.

Middleton is also becoming the business center for the Villages. Many of the office workers are being co-located there.

The Brownwood hotel stays quite busy with the various professionals and business groups meeting with the logistics, project managers, purchasing, IT, Engineering, contractors, suppliers, etc. as needed to support the construction and ongoing operations. activities.

You were Very lucky as a parent not to travel. Both boys played AAA hockey, out of state and Canada 2-3 times a month, not counting the twice a week practice and local games that could be 1-3 hours away. Our daughter travel fast pitch soft ball, played 16-18yo league @ 11 yo. Out state tournament at colleges were norm all summer. Plus golf tournaments.

Our hotel stays per month were 2-4 days. Every year one or both boys had the honor of making Nationals. Usually 3-7 days a year, which required airfare, hotels, and crap food because you camped out in a 40 degree building that was 10 miles away from your hotel or real food.

My guess is TV will host as many tournaments as possible bringing in teams from all over the FL plus multiple state draw to a great facility. Usually college campuses are used for big tournaments, because of facilities, restaurants and hotels. This HS has it all without paying big bucks to a college facility. Summer camps for basketball, football, baseball and lacrosse all in one tidy package.
All three of our kids were in awe of the forethought of the developer at how Middleton and Eastport were planned. Their first comment “This would have been a dream to have this type of commercial venue when we played sports”

The high school has an outdoor 50 meter pool, and other amazing facilities.
The hotel isn;t for the away team for a Friday night football game - it’s for the weekend AAU tournament or the 3 day USA Swimming swim meet.
It’s an awesome idea, older sibling has a tournament, the other kids can walk to/from hotel with Middleton activities in between.

We have a friend, whose grandson (8 years old) is on a traveling soccer team. He is currently in Barcelona playing in a tournament there during Christmas week.
