I joined TOTV a mere 13 years ago when friends of ours bought in Largo. I was a whippersnapper of 54 years back then, still humping the goat. (Am I allowed to say that on TOTV?)... since then we have visited our friends a few times, and are now in our 3rd year of rental, and 5th year of retirement and I think I am approaching the point of having the little woman convinced...we are actually looking at homes.
So I will be peppering you seasoned veterans with questions, starting with this one: Any Camellia ( or similarly laid out floor plans) owners out there who can give me an idea of what plantation shutter would set me back? Thanks, Laker |

Do your due diligence, and get a few bids. Talk to others who have had them installed, and who they used. A lot of variables involved: number of windows, size, arched windows, wood vs. polymer, etc. When we bought our home (Gardenia), The Villages Enhancements quoted us $8,200 for plantation shutters on all windows except the garage (we have two large windows with arches). We did not go that route. Since then, we are getting bids in the $4k neighborhood. Don't be in a rush.

nope...sold the goat 5 years ago. DW sold her goat 4 years ago. We did one winter in Hawaii, then started snowbirding here. First 3 months, then 4 months, this year 6 months...I guess it's time.

Call one of the places that installs them in TV. Explain that you are doing some planning of cash needs, for when you buy. They would know the houses and give you a decent idea for planning. At least in the ballpark, i.e. is it a $1000/5000/10000?
