Completed 49 years, 7 months, 23 days of continuous service to the Air Force on the 7th of May, just a week prior to heading to the Villages where we have been all of two weeks. Enlisted in September of 1960 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1986, went to work the following day as a Civil Servant, retiring in December 2001, and again, the following day went to work as a Contractor on an AF contract until last month when I quit work on the 7th of May and the 14th the moving van was "Villages bound'. I started in personnel and the last 2/3s in Logistics Plans in too many places to mention. Spent the Cuban crisis here in Florida at Macdill AFB and the Vietnam era found me at Tan Son Nhut AB.

My husband was in the US Army 1976-79 active. Took basic in Ft. Knox, stationed in Ft. Meade and then on to Schwaback, Germany. Then the Reserves for many years. He was a 52 D generator specialist.
My 91-year-old father was in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was part of the great 93rd Bombardment Group better known as Ted's Flying Circus. My two brother-in-laws served during the Vietnam War. One was in the Army. The other, a Marine, was a POW and given a Purple Heart. Thank you and God Bless each of you here who allow me the privilege and freedom to post my views and opinions on this forum in this great country. Your service and the service of your loved ones fills my eyes with tears of pride. |
