I live in the Villages and pick up my mail at our local mail Center. We also get daily informed delivery messages. Recently we received an informed delivery notice that a package with a postal tracking number was due in several days and finally, that it was received at Post Office in Lady Lake and finally Out for Delivery and then "Delivered In/AT MAILBOX" May 2,2026 at 12:26 PM. However, not to me.
Mail Center attendant said it was not delivered to her station. This has happened before and several days later a neighbor picked up her mail and delivered the package. Clerk at mail center says it is a post office issue. I have no knowledge of what was sent, just a 22 digit Tracking number tthat says it started out with a Pre shipment notice on 4/27 and then arrived at USPS regional Distribution center in Boston. Don't recall ordering anything. Looks like USPS tracking program is like hunting or a pin in a haystack. Just seems to me somebody down the line could have easily have dropped it off at the wrong mail center, put in the wrong mail slot etc |

Mail here in the Villages is not reliable, I've had mail that said "delivered to mailbox", but not my mailbox, more than once !

It would seem that they verify delivery at all steps. Why not at delivery to last delivery point , my box? Why not verify which final delivery station in The Villages?
It seems as though the system falls apart at Lady Lake Post Office. Coins, Medicine Loved ones ashes, books. Put into wrong box, I don't Know Nothing? |

In that perspective I agree that humans make mistakes. Once received a letter addressed to a neighbor with the same first name as our son. We always sort out his mail and put in his drawer at our house, Note, he lives overseas and visits here every 3 months. He got here and had a box full of mail that he quickly reviewed. Opened one envelope and saw a check for multiple double-digit thousands of dollars, but upon closer exam realized that it belonged to a neighbor. So, we took it to the neighbor and apologized for our mistake. meanwhile they had to have the check replaced due to two Human Errors.

I have on several occasions found packages in my box that belong to someone else. The mail attendant is usually not around. I just look at the address and drive it to their house. Hopefully that will eventually happen with your package too.

The workers at the station are very good and said that they did not have a package for me on that day, but they double checked the postal bins anyway. No luck, even though it was scanned as delivered. Fortunately the vendor gave me a refund, but who scanned the package and where was it delivered?? |

4 times I've had items marked scanned to mailbox, the person was inside, told them nothing was in my box....they looked around and found it in someone else's box...not a good track record..

We are here just over 6 years. We keep getting mail addressed to the lady we bought our home from.
Even though it is all junk mail put it back to the appropriate slot and no idea if it gets delivered but for that matter no idea if our seller is even still around. |

As initiator of this thread, I stopped at the Lady Lake Post office today and the postal Clerk was quite helpful. She scanned the Postal code and definitely said that the item was dropped off at the correct postal station. I asked if she could tell what the item was. She said that it was a "book" shipped from Boston. Having not ordered a book, I no longer am concerned. My wife solved the problem reminding me that we had received a large catalogue from Overseas Adventure Travel (OATS) and they operate out of Boston. Those types of mail items don't get our attention as we have never used their service, and they promptly find the trash.
I have to question why an advertising catalogue would ever be sent as tracked mail but that's my best bet. I guess it would be too much to ask the Post Office to have included a description of the tracked item. With that knowledge, I would not have even gone to the mail center or further to the Post Office to generate a lost mail request. |

Yes, we all make mistakes but can one office be in a constant flux? Missing mail, temporary change of address mismanaged and never answering their phone.
