Let me clear about one thing , contract postal employees do not have the same incentive as regular employees , just like in private business you get what you pay for or you just don’t get people . The business that I see now who are doing well are paying there employees well , I go into Starbucks the staff behind the counter are bumping in to each other there’s so many, same at tropical smoothie, I eat at chops , bonefish , Legacy the other night filled with people still good service , pay people a decent wage and you’ll find good workers , the ups does a mostly great job , i and most people I know must have been awfully lucky in life to not have all the awful things that seem to have happened to everyone on here
The main difference between contract employees and full-time employees for mail delivery is in the benefits and job security. Both make about the same amount in basic hourly pay. But, the contract employees offer a much better deal for the taxpayers. Contract employees can be laid off when you don't need them, or if they are not doing a good job, and you don't need to pay them a lifetime pension, which often costs more than you paid them while they were working. When you hire a full-time Government employee, it is for life, and you often end up spending a few million dollars over 50 years or longer on an employee who turns out to be deadwood who performs very little work. Not to say that all Government employees are deadwood. But, some people don't care how much money the Federal Government spends.

Yes, that sentence should have said, but I missed a word which was in my thoughts, but evidently, not in my fingers. . . and there is an unwritten regional slight in the statement as well, but not stated overtly

Well I guess all the people on here had important jobs and never made mistakes so it’s hard for me to defend the losers who are sucking the economy dry with there base wage of $17.56 and yes they get sick time and vacations, maybe if everyone wrote we could get rid of sick time and who needs vacations anyway, and how about turning the heat and AC off in building after all these are very stupid people who wouldn’t know it was off

No regional slight I was just saying you should realize how tough the job is in winter and I remember you were a Boston guy until you weren’t , that’s ok Boston people are used to people from the burbs answering that there from Boston , I mean why wouldn’t they it’s a great city , born in the South End ( not South Boston) , moved to West END , , family first moved to Charlestown after they tore down West End and now back in the South End a block from that miserable slum that we were. all happy in and what a change from those days
