Alas, some of the contractors are great and I got to know them in Marsh Bend at the Cattail mail station. unfortunately, other mail stations have had issues.

That is why I have a PMB or Post Office Box for high value deliveries. I don't have time to take care of problems that current contractors have with some of the mail stations. Seems like an undercover operation is waatented to make sure the contractors are doing the job that they are being paid for. It seems to be a simple job, right?

Unless there are penalties forwrong deliveries, mistakes may continue.

As for the wanton errors, there are NO excuses.

That said, have only had one delayed piece of mail from the IRS. I do have informed delivery from the USPS.

One last thing, the mail station contractors should wait to scan until AFTER they place a package into the locker. Not when they unload their cars at the mail station.

I'm reviving this thread because I want to know if Amazon now delivers to your house or it it still to the mail station? It seems ludicrous that they don't deliver to your door when that's what their business is all about - home delivery.

It varies.

Most of my shipments are to the door in Marsh Bend by Amazon delivery van, but a few are by usps, FedEx, or UPS. USPS is usually to a locker at the mail station, or in my box if it fits.

Not if you can't read, because you got a pass at the local high school when your box was checked. Postal Delivery is the last job opportunity for those who really shouldn't have graduated. . .

Any retired postal employees have any thoughts on this profound statement?

I didn't ever work at the Post Office, but I never, ever ONCE in my life did I think of those who did as uneducated or had cognitive deficits.

When I think of "mailmen" and other folks who I have met, I think of people performing a service and getting paid. Never had any superior thoughts about the milkman or any person who delivered stuff or did something to get paid. Nope. I can still see their lovely images in my Dick and Jane reader....and they stuck.

Why do people say things like that or even think that way??

I don’t work for post office but that is an awful statement insulting about a half a million people , who I think do a very good job . A guy from New England that can see what they go through in winter or what it’s like here in the summer should have better to say . Let me clear about one thing , contract postal employees do not have the same incentive as regular employees , just like in private business you get what you pay for or you just don’t get people . The business that I see now who are doing well are paying there employees well , I go into Starbucks the staff behind the counter are bumping in to each other there’s so many, same at tropical smoothie, I eat at chops , bonefish , Legacy the other night filled with people still good service , pay people a decent wage and you’ll find good workers , the ups does a mostly great job , i and most people I know must have been awfully lucky in life to not have all the awful things that seem to have happened to everyone on here

It sounds like you've led a charmed life! Or maybe you don't get irritated easily. All I know is when I was growing up being a mail carrier was considered a top government job. It was common knowledge that they had to take an IQ test or similar in order to be hired. I'm sure that's all changed now.

I'm having several heavy boxes sent to me via FedEx. I'd rather they deliver them to my home but I better speak to someone at the mail station about it.

Just remember Newman was a long term postal employee and when Jerry delivered his mail for a period of time they knew that Newman was away as too much mail was correctly delivered.

. Has changed how ?? Why not talk about how it’s changed for the better , they hire more veterans especially disabled then any other organization , more woman and more minorities also and most go into work wanting to do a good job they don’t get rich but they do get health and pension benefits which I’m sure would be to much for anybody here because the let’s pull up the ladder behind attitude Is quite alive in the villages

Sometimes I wonder why I ever left California with some of the attitudes on here.

As it happens, I know many people who work for USPS, and two are union reps. Another had an office position (not a mail carrier) and she sued them for harassment because they were constantly politicking during working hours, pushing certain candidates on the work force, distributing literature, sending emails with political humor my friend didn't find funny. She stopped paying her union dues and quit soon after.
