It's clear that The Villages Healthcare System is pushing United Healthcare during open enrollment. However, this week the major news networks noted that Moffit Cancer Centers WILL NOT accept United Healthcare any longer [Google Moffitt and United Healthcare]. Well, I wonder how all the Villagers who donated A LOT of moola to Moffit in The Villages feel about this?
Curious to get all the facts on this disturbing story. |

AARP-United Healthcare decided to not cover Moffitt in its HMO plans, but people keep putting their full trust and faith in AARP and its "zero premium" enticements....
Tampa Bay Times. Oct. 4, 2013 AARP Medicare plans end relationship with Moffitt Cancer Center In 2014, AARP's MedicareComplete HMO will cease covering treatment at Tampa's H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center..... United "did not ask us for a rate decrease or anything,'' Culumber said. Moffitt takes Medicare rates for these patients so she was unsure how the insurer's decision would save money. "They just decided they would make these patients out of network,'' she said... If you aren't here, you might Google them and then give them a call. Personally, I hate HMO's. I like to have the freedom to pick and choose and not have to jump through the "Mother may I?" hoops. That's why I am staying with my PPO plan which I love. Just suggestions. This might be a good question to bring up at one of their enrollment seminars, too.

You have made this claim several times, but have yet to produce any evidence of this claim.

The latest is that those seeking individual coverage via insurance exchanges are going to go to an HMO but worse yet insurers are reducing doctor fees to the equivalent of what Medicaid pays. consequently many doctors are opting out AARP's united Health Care is I the forefront.
for those of us with employer sponsored plans be prepared because this is going to have a very bad effect on the health industry. I honestly believe this is all to create a default to a single payer plan. ACA is creating a heavy toll on people |

The OP's point is that if you are a member of the Villages health center and at Medicare age then the Villages health center will only accept United Healthcare. The major issue now is that United just announced that Moffitt is no longer in the network.
I am surprised that the members of this forum are not upset....United has taken out an important link to those members who are also members of the Villages Healthcare. |

Given that UnitedHealth Care is reducing doctor fees, I wonder what affect that will have on other carriers reimbursements? If doctors charge more will carriers turn to patients to pay the difference ?
