Default Touch Tennis

A new option.

Touchtennis - Wikipedia

. . .

There’s a new game in town! The Villages has approved touchtennis thanks to the efforts of Russ Jones. The Eisenhower Rec Center will host a grand opening on Thursday August 19th at 9 am at the platform tennis courts. I’m told a tennis dignitary will be here to help kick it off.

In the meantime, come out and give touchtennis a try. There is an open play next Thursday, August 12th at 9:00 am (Eisenhower). Racquets and balls will be available courtside. Cindy Clark will be there and can tell you the rules for play.

We’re excited to see this game come to TV. It’s fun and a good game for the Eisenhower courts given the sun’s orientation issues. Unlike the platform tennis ball, the tt ball is light so it doesn’t hurt should it hit you. Plus, it’s quiet, especially compared to the sounds the pickleball makes.

We hope you can join us! Let us know if you have any questions or what you thought of the game.

Paddle on!

Could be a possibility for the new Lifestyle Center. Tournaments would be good marketing.

It is common, especially in the winter, to see people waiting to play pickelball.
In the summer even the pickleball courts have availability. Check out Seabreeze Thursdays before 10 am, always an empty court.

I’ve run into a very frustrated family that visits from time to time and believed the above statement about tennis. We’ve kicked them off reserved courts 4 times in the last two years. You have to search around a bit to get on a tennis court before 11 in the winter.

So, pickleball show up sport in villages. Tennis much like golf in ability, groups, reservations. Pickleball to tennis is like putt putt to golf. In saddle brook area you have 5 close pickleball ball courts available within 2 miles. In district 4 there one, next closest courts are 4 miles plus away. Nowhere in villages do you have to travel 4 miles to next rec center for play. Yes other courts have open beginner times that’s not utilized.

Chatham Rec. Centre tennis courts were very underused last time we were staying in that area, and in high season.
Walk on any time of day.

LOL, you can’t get on them before 11 AM on any day cause they are reserved. Yes, I go by there daily all through year.
