Default More sports pool woes

Previously, I have asked the Rec Dept. if they could include in the weekly Recreation News the times when pools are closed for maintenance/cleaning but have been told that, since a note is put up at the pool one week ahead, they don't see the need. So, when we get back to TV for one of our regular visits we often get caught out and turn up at a pool that is closed.

Having arrived on Monday, we checked the weekly guide today to make sure that the Laurel Manor pool was combo swim at noon. We got there to find that it is closed FOR THREE WEEKS. How hard can it be for the Rec Dept. to amend the Recreation News listing to reflect this extended closure?

Thanks - can you post a link to do so? - I was not aware of this facility (and why the Rec Dept. didn't tell me about it ...)

Amen. I also think any pool classes that are offered should be listed as a reference in the Rec news. Any idea what Critters water aerobics at Savannah is?

In general, I find that the recreation department does a very poor job with timely updates and information. Schedules posted in the recreation news are often very different than what's posted at the actual rec center. And given that this discrepancy often exists for weeks at a time, I cannot accept the argument that the weekly recreation news can't be a timely. Further, while I appreciate that maintenance is required, there seems to be a callous attitude with the recreation department that there's nothing wrong with having scores of people show up for an event, only to find a posted notice of closure.

Calling the rec center often does you no good. I have found that they will just check the weekly rec news and spout back what that says, which is often not correct.

I really don't think it's too much to ask that the recreation department on their web page have a regular, up front listing of closures and that it be kept up in a timely manner.

The printed version of Recreation News that came with today's Daily Sun has "Closed for maintenance" printed above the Laurel Manor pool schedule, whereas the on-line version does not. It would be even better if the schedule itself was blank, rather than listing dozens of activities that aren't taking place.

Maybe the back page of Recreation News could be used as a "stop press" area, to include late-breaking developments and a list of facility closures that week?

Unfortunately the sign-up system is as dysfunctional as the rec department. It's a one time deal, you can't make any changes once you're signed up and if you missed the verification email, you're out of luck.

And writing to the district and the recreation department about it gets no response.....

And calling the district offices gets you a "someone will call you back" but they never do.

Wonder why I'm frustrated?????

Just noticed in the Rec Guide that Lake Miona pool is also "Closed for maintenance"

How ridiculous to close the two central pools at the same time!

Does anyone know how long this one is going to be shut?

Thank you
