Default Motion Lights.

We have friends who had four motion detector lights installed on their home for less than six hundred dollars.

I have been told that light deters crime and I think it is a good idea.

I have 'em and love 'em.

They are bright & I had to make sure they were not lighting up the neighbor's bedroom.

I have been using motion lights around my property for years, back in LA as well. dewilson58 is right, I had a neighbor shine his right into my bedroom, thank God it was only a motion light, so it wasn't on all the time.

They are just a deterrent but it helps. I have 2 in my lanai and 1 outside overlooking the pond. I think they are great. Not very expensive to install, I had Handieman do them for me, he was great.

Smile Have Them

We have them, (along with a good security system) and they work great. The only problem is that we also have a rabbit which runs by at night and lights up our back area. Have now been use to it and know he/she is just looking for food..

We had a motion detector over the garage at our home in VA. Haven't put one here.........yet. The one we had, had a sensitivity adjustment so it wouldn't pick up small animals.

Has anybody had any experience with a solar motion light? Just wondering how bright?

If they paid $600 for four motion detector lights, it's too late. They have already been robbed.

Gracie -- This is the first time I have lived in more years than I can count,
where I did not have some type of lighting in our side & back yard.

Yes, it is true and has been proven that light is a deterrent to crime.

I think in our documents it says you cannot have a lamppost in the back because it would bother neighbors.
How ridiculous is that???

I don't know anyone who doesn't have their bedroom blinds or curtains closed at night.

Lighting around a house should be permitted. It creates a safer environment for everyone.

Lighting is allowed around the house, you don't need a lamppost, these lights secure to the side of the house, not on a lamppost.

I didn't pay anywhere near $600 (quite a bit less). Money well spent.

I just had motion sensors with twin floods installed over each of my two lanai doors by Galaxy for less than $300 total cost. They point down directly at the doors so critters nor bushes trigger them.

$600 doesn't sound out of line to me.

There is a fair amount of material and labor involved to install 4 switched external lights.

Have you done that sort of work yourself?

Yes, I have. I installed 4 motion lights myself for about 200 bucks.
