A LSV or NEV, by Florida law has to be powered by an electric motor. Unless he/she were to make it a three-wheeler it could not be made street legal. The main question is WHY?

Why not? I’m betting the Wright Bros heard a lot of the same responses! I would love to see it.

I bought a used standard Yamaha Golf Cart that had modifications (governor and tires) where it would go about 30mph. The standard cart suspension was never designed to go that fast. Making turns, hitting bumps, and braking were a little scary. The carts are not Formula 1 vehicles. My point it that a more powerful motor is just the start of mods needed to make it a safe ride. I changed the cart so that it maxed out at 23mph.

Sounds like a new hit series to me. "Golf Cart Outlaws" you should pitch it to Discovery. We could light up a discreet fairway at night. Racing each week to see who can be at the top of the 352's list. We could race other golf cart outlaws from other states on their local fairways. Have them come here. Don count me in. I have a couple of high revving chain saw motors laying around. Hmmm wait I know where I can get my hands on a turbo hayabusa mill, no nitrous needed. A Line lock spool up the turbo, yep I'm definitely in.

Golf Cart racing would be a great idea for TV. and I am sure there would be plenty who would participate.
We have the British Lawn Mower Racing Association in UK. and if you look on Youtube you can see how fast they can get the mowers to go.
The only stipulation is the machines must still be able to cut grass!

There are companies that make retrofit kits to mount predator style air cooled engines in golf carts.

Big Block Engine Kits & Golf Cart Performance Upgrades | Vegas Carts — Vegas Carts & Performance
Golf Cart Engine Upgrade Kits for sale | Cart Parts Plus

Do a You Tube search you will find a wealth of information on the topic. I would also consider a 4 wheel disc brake kit and a steering system upgrade.

Would love to see the look on car driver faces when you fly past!
Definitely would install seat belts and roll bars!

This fellow lives near us.
He has a road legal garden shed. It goes at over 100MPH!

Sounds like his next project should be a 100 MPH porta-potty. Now THAT would turn heads!

There are some YouTube videos on people who have done that. One guy somewhere in Florida did a video showing his cart going 100 mph. Worth watching... I’m sure you don’t want to go that fast.

Smile Fun

Once had a guy working for me and he had somehow (don't ask me how) installed a Chevy
engine in a regular VW and lined the fenders with lead to hold it down. He would have
fun on the NY Throuway passing a large car and racing it when they challenged his speed. Takes all kinds to make up a world?

Default Yes a friend did just that

Rich, a friend in Virginia did just that and it worked out quite well. It was not water cooled but he mounted a fan to cool the motor,
much like the lov jugs that are used on Harley's but larger.
