I'm talking before Covid. It was never hard to get a ticket to the movies here. They were never busy.

Nothing is stopping anyone from leasing the space and opening their own theater.

I will wait until I can rent it online although I love the big screen and acoustics.

However, I am 10 min from Brownwood.

Developer: PLEASE REOPEN THIS THEATRE. WE HAVE THOUSANDS MORE PEOPLE SOUTH OF 44 AND WE NEED THIS THEATRE.

I just don't get it. It is already there and had been in use until Covid. It will bring people to Brownwood square to spend $ at the restaurants etc. You have tons of golf courses but here is something we really need and you only have a movie theatre in Sumter landing.....
We are weekly movie goers and preferred the Brownwood location - would LOVE to have “our” theatre open again! For the past 6 weeks we have also attended music events (specifically Gilly & The Girl) at Lazy Mac’s at the OMP. The place is jam packed every time they play and food / drink business is brisk. What a great business concept! We believe that incorporating the OMP strategy at Brownwood would “save our theatre”! Come on Village Powers that be.. Think about it!!!

What happens the rest of the time when there isn't a movie you want to see? They should keep it open for you, just in case?

Do you really think the developer has not given a lot of thought about what to do with the theater? They keep selling their 300 or so homes a month with only one open theater.

The time of the movie theater has mostly passed.

Are you serious? Complaining about a 30- minute drive? You live in a city with a footprint the size of Manhattan. This is life in the big city. Drive or await its release on Netflix.

Unfortunately, I have to agree, but there is nothing quite like the ambiance of a movie theater for enjoying a movie. Used to love seeing the people coming and going, the popcorn, the candy, coffee etc.

Probably just bad timing for posting this particular article. It appears there are live stock updates embedded in the article. The two companies they recommend are negative right now while the one they say to avoid is positive. Of course, things may change in 10 minutes but at the moment their advice doesn't match the market.

Unfortunately it’s not a viable business to be in at this time.

Snarky responses from rude folks are pretty normal. Seems to be a sign of advanced age, entitlement and, of course, the onset of dementia. Just take it in the spirit of good will it was tended. But in support of your entry, I too would like to see another theater atmosphere here. Perhaps specializing in epics like Lawrence of Arabia, etc?? Or other award winning pictures

Really liked your Petition.

Have no idea why the Villages Developers are not applying their business sense to the unique market of the Villages which is made up of tens of thousands of people who grew up going to the movie theaters and drive-ins.

It is about this specific market and not what is going on with movie theaters in NYC, Detroit, Chicago, or DC.

And this was a draw for people moving into the Villages who enjoy movies with the feel, smell and noise of the big screen.
