I transported an 8 week old puppy from NY to FLorida this past New Year's Day. Jet Blue allows pets on the plane if in a soft carrier that fits under the seat in front of you. They charge $100 for the pets ticket and the carrier does have to go through security and the pet has to be in your arms when you go through the scanner. It's truly not a big deal and might help get the process over with quickly if you, your Mom and your cat all came together.
