Default Mr. Developer: We need a "New Normal" at the Villages

The Villages has the reputation of being an "adult Disneyland for a good reason--it has always been the most unique place for 55+ people to live in America. With all that is going on with Covid-19, I believe it is time for the Developer to help create a "new normal" so that the Villages can maintain its stellar reputation.
For those of us who don't play golf, we have lost many of the features that we have enjoyed so much----and who knows when (or if) things will ever return to the way it was. It is time to think out of the box. Some ideas:

---create "golf cart" drive in movies at the polo grounds and/or Everglade. This has been done in the past

---Having open air golf cart concerts at the polo grounds was a great idea. Let's plan this again.

---Other cities have closed down their central squares to traffic and allowed restaurants to put out tables and chairs. Let's do that at our town squares like we do at special events-close the squares to traffic, set up tables that are 6 feet apart, bring back entertainment, and allow BYOB so people don't have to congregate at the Bar Huts.

---Instead of a new pool, how about creating a meandering lazy river at one or more locations. People could use that for walking (or floating) exercise and remain 6 feet apart.

Mr. Developer and family: It is time to create a "new normal" for the Villages so we can grow old at the "adult Disneyland"!

Those are great ideas. Hope they act on them. Especially like the lazy river idea.

Many if not most of us who are being extremely careful would not use either of those features.

The squares entertainment is controlled by the merchants on the squares who direct and pay the Entertainment Committee.

I think that what is happening here is happening in the world and there is only one word to us.

Patience.

Good ideas, we need more options, and it is good to try to plan them to provide reasonable levels of safety.

Thanks

They canceled the outdoor concerts at the polo field because nobody was buying tickets.

"meandering lazy river"

Where?

When?

How much $

Who pays?

How to keep tubes apart?

You will have more success with suggestions by going to Brownwood and knocking on the door................rather than posting on ToTV.

The outdoor concerts were tried and failed.

Patience is the key.

Fiesta Pools built a Lazy River for us around an island in the middle of our pool, when we had our pool added in 2013 and we love it - ahhhhhh!

Outdoor concerts might have worked if they allowed us to bring chairs and set them up socially distant.

Thought about it until realized we would be confined to our car for the period before and during the concert. Not the best way to see a concert and enjoy the music.

In a situation where a company builds homes there is outlay for materials and labor and their is outlay for land and improvement of lands and utilities and roads and infrastructue. Their is money spent on many, many facets and then the home is built and there is a profit. That profit margin then is used to do the process all over again and yet there is still money left over for the owner.

But in the process, in that very process, people who dig, drive, hammer, saw, lift, climb, sweat, caulk, lay tile, carry heavy lumber, sit at a desk and draw plans, negotiate prices for more land, dig trenches for pipes and carry heavy things like toilets and climb to high places and work in 95 degree heat get money. They use that money to pay their rent, buy food, gas, car note, water and light bill and entertain themselves and then the money is spread to waitresses and doctors and people who pick up the trash and people who mow the lawn and people who paint nails and cut hair and sew us up after we have a hernia operation or a heart stent.

Profit is not a dirty word.
