Thanks for your kind thoughtful post. There are too many uncharitable posts on here. My husband and I bought a designer home and my parents came with us as they lived with us in Ma. We have a Bridgeport with 3 baths and large kitchen. It works for us. My Dad has now passed and Mom does the snowbird thing now and is here during the winter months to escape the cold. This was not illegal and the Villages realtor helped us managed the move. We have been here 4 years now. We had to find a model that fit our needs. Good luck to OP.

Just for your reference many older children in their 30s 40s and 50s have to take care of their older parents exclamation point that's the reason. Believe me I don't want to I love the fact that I have three wonderful children

Finding the villages and I'm sure you won't please take a look Pennbrooke Fairways right down the road on 44 as they do have a section of attached Townhomes next to each other that are upscale and they also have slightly lower priced garden homes that are next to each other attached that are one-bedroom units and smaller I can recommend a very good broker for Pennbrooke Fairways if you want. The price range here is $100,000 less and the equivalent footage in The Villages

Some need to be cared for. If you had a child that was mentally or physically disabled you might think differently.

Why does everyone say its ok if the child is disabled? First off “child” is usually referring to an older adult here inthe Villages. Second off if you have an elderly widowed female and a single son or daughter, why not live together if thats what they want. No big deal if thats their preference. Has nothing to do with “they should be living on their own”. Shoulda coulda woulda.

Just make sure to ask questions before you buy. It would be terrible to buy and move in and then find out your neighbor will be an apartment building.

Why does the term "children" equate to too young to be in TV???

Our "children" are all in their 50's!!!!!

You consider someone who cares about their parent, and has them move in their home, becomes an apartment?
So I am guessing your family knows to stay away.

I am so glad I have watched my neighbors come to the aide of a neighbor and happy to do it.

And for children that we know, who had to change their lives because one parent Diagnosed with cancer and in chemo, and the other Parent had a stroke. Yep that’s true apartment dwelling.

Lots of judgemental posts on this Thread IMHO. The reason you might have an adult parent/child living with you could be any number of good reasons. It’s not your neighbors business as we are, for the most part, a village here. The adult child/parent is easily accepted in 99% of neighborhoods especially here in The Villages. OP, ask a simple question and the answer is that there are a number of home models in The Villages that will accommodate your needs as others have posted. As discussed there aren’t many with a separate entrance, added after buildout but a separate entrance you may be able to do without. Good luck.

Default Child living with parent

The Top of the World in ocala has several models that includes a casita. They share a courtyard, the casita has a kitchenette, bathroom bedroom, and sometimes has a sitting area! They have lots of these out in Arizona they are very nice!

By multi family I mean a home built with a separate area that is a suite for a child (age 30-50) of the homeowner. Also I'm thinking if your child lives with you, they should have a separate entrance and a kitchenette (just a microwave, refrigerator and sink).
Thank you - MarvinH

I have been in several who have “in law suites “. They are usually on the other side of the house from the master. There was one over in Hacienda that had a separate entrance off the foyer. Unfortunately any of the ones I know about are in the older sections and do not have kitchenettes.

I took care of my mom and my dad who both moved into my
home pre villages, due to stroke and cancer. You took my post totally wrong. I was talking about the apartments that are being built. People are telling them about houses for sale near Hacienda I was just letting them to check out what’s around them and what will be before they buy. Apology accepted!
