When we stayed the entire summer, we found that its just longer (about twice as long) as back in Illinois and more humid too. Until Air Conditioning became afforable in the 60’s and 70’s, people that could afford it headed for the coasts. Because of the length, a lot of full-time residents take a “vacation” in the summer.
I found the same as you--lighter traffic and restaurants not as crowded--although I never thought the traffic in TV was heavy in the winter compared to where we have lived before.

But it definitely is hotter than "up north." The summer of 2017 had constant 97 degree temps for a lot of it, with heat index of 103. And it was still in the '90s into the fall. We just got tired of the three-day drive back and forth to Michigan and decided back in 2013 to stay year-round. The heat is bearable, IMO.

I don't totally disagree. Traffic is lighter and restaurants easier, but I would not agree that it is MUCH different. From many posts over the past several years on the subject I expected vast differences, which I have not experienced.

Great observations, Ed. I will take Florida humidity for Chicago snow, cold and ice any day of the week.
