I don't see the jokes and poking at the OP that you refer to. I see the runaway train of TOTV humor that keeps me delighted to be part of the community. I always visit a great long thread even if the topic isn't of interest, to see what nuttiness has emerged because that's the fun part, when the posters play and enjoy themselves. NO HARM INTENDED.

I agree and do the same, Kitty. And these same folks, I might add, are the ones who lift people up when they are having a rough time. We're not mean... Just opinionated!

All the piling on and grouping together to say "I agree with" the statement "I don't pay attention to stuff like that" clearly was mockery and demeaning of a legitimate concern. The o.p. said from the start that "its a mystery to me" why people put their trash out a whole day early in the hot sun, causing the place to look trashy and to stink, when common courtesy would be more considerate of neighbors.

She made it clear from the beginning that this was routine behavior, NOT unusual circumstances like leaving on a trip or illness. But that was disregarded by some who implied SHE was the problem for not offering to help a neighbor who's frail or whatever. Then somebody told her she's trying hard not to like TV, when that is not known for sure at all. Then many piled on to agree and laugh at each other's "cool" jokes so that the complaint/topic is belittled some more.

In fact, "BELITTLING" describes most of what has been said in this thread. This is exactly how decent, otherwise content people are shut down and told in so many words that "You do not matter" and "this playground belongs to US.....you're not one of us."

It's juvenile and dispiriting.

It's a fine line we are all walking on this site. Guess we need to go back to the theory of "do unto others as you would have them do onto you" and maybe we would be a little more sensitive?!? Think about just respecting someone's concern instead of being critical or demeaning. If you think their post is stupid - zip it - carry on and don't give it a second thought. As Rodney King said "can't we all just get along"????

obviously because they don't put an inordinate amount of unworthy nitpicking thought into it. they thought more of their neighbors.

Right on.!! You sound like a wonderful neighbor.

While reading this thread I am sitting here watching the news of people hiding for their life in a mall in Kenya where terrorists are gunning down people. My, how lucky are we to have the annoyances we have?

We don't have any say in what should be done to the terrorists in our own country, much less in Kenya.

But we do have this board here, to raise awareness here in our town, to concerns that neighbors could fix if they knew others found it offensive, against the rules, or aggravating. It's also here to make suggestions as to possible solutions that could help the situation here.
