Default Need Auto Mechanic

While driving on highway a truck sent something into the grille on my Jeep. It caused grille and radiator damage, but no other body damage. Need recommendation for a mechanic with the usual requirements: skilled, honest, reliable, cost effective, timeliness; etc.

Please recommend only mechanics you have personally used and highly rate. Please do not provide other advice.

Wildwood Tires is local, family run and has always done good work on our Dodge Ram truck and BMW.

Sumter Tire. They are very honest, brakes were making a noise, thought it was time, they pulled the wheel, check them, said nothing needed to be done, just characteristic of the products being used today, no charge. That is the only place we go with our vehicles.

You do not state the damage. A bent fin on the radiator from a pebble might be better left a lone. A leak may require a replacement. Most radiators today are aluminum not easy to repair. Old school. I had the coolant changed in my car. You are told it is permanent. My OPINION I have it changed. Far less expensive than overheating, corroded parts etc. I would normally replace the thermostat and hoses. All proprietary parts. The dealer told me he checked them and they are ok NOT WORTH THE COST TO REPLACE THEM.

I too would suggest WILDWOOD TIRE. The grill? A clean JEEP?

Call Mike Raysin (Michael’s Auto Repair) 352 – 365 – 2955. Address: 307 N. Villa Avenue, Fruitland Park. His shop is just west of 441, on the south side of 466A. I have used Mike for over 10 years. He is excellent. Also, he is reasonably priced and very honest. Over the years, I have sent many Villagers and others there—and always receive very positive feedback.

If the grill is the only body damage buy one yourself online or from a dealer take it and the car to what ever repair shop you choose, they can install the grill when they repair the radiator. The grill on most of today's cars simply snap in place.
