Default Ques regarding Duck hunting on Lake Deaton & the new houses there

So we were casually looking at the remaining houses down by Lake Deaton just north of the lake in the area of the Valleybrook way. So I asked the agent about duck hunting as I know they do duck hunt (at least as of last year from Nov to Jan) on the lake and asked if it was going to end or have additional restrictions. They asked why? I said that depending on the shot size, the shot could travel 330 yards (if they were using shot #2) and if someone was in the lake shooting at a duck that is flying in the direction of the houses, the shot would fall on or hit the houses. Well, they didn't know what I was talking about as they were not hunters. Anyhow, I was curious now with the additional homes all being built if anyone has heard what will happen with duck hunting on the lake. I checked the Florida website and didn't find anything. In North Dakota, you can't fire in the direction of any dwelling under 440 yards. Will they be putting up a temporary buoy markers in the lake to mark off how close the hunters can get to residences? There was a frame / vinyl house that was nice but I told the agent that the shot could put a hole in the siding if the conditions were right. If anyone has any insight on this, I'd be glad to hear what you know.

Hey, 330 yards away with 2 shot is no big deal! There was a thread on here not very long ago about feral pigs coming into some yards by Pelican and Heron golf courses. A few people posted seiously on here that they would like to shoot the pigs in the yards with a Desert Eagle .50 caliber. Now, THAT would put holes in your vinyl siding!

I would be somewhat concerned about the duck hunting. I have played golf at Heron during duck season and hunters are in Lake Miona State Park and it sounds too close when they fire their shotguns to fully concentrate on golf. I can imagine I would feel a bit unsafe if I lived close to the hunting area.

This is Florida gun friendly. You can even have a gun target range in your backyard! NRA spends a lot of money at the state capital!

quoted from a legal journal....I'm surprised it doesn't say while eating local produce...

Under state law, local jurisdictions do not have the power to regulate recreational shooting on private residential property. The state imposes only minimal restrictions, requiring bullets not to be shot over paved public roads or occupied dwellings and banning shooting that is “reckless or negligent,”
Local officials who interfere with backyard gun ranges could be fined as much as $5,000 and removed from office by the governor. They are also prohibited from restricting other individual gun rights.

now do deed restrictions have the power??

I can't recall reading here or anywhere that any homes have been struck by shot in The Villages. Many folks are annoyed by the noise.

My understanding is that if you are caught trying to kill a duck, they will set a baited trap for you. When you are caught they will euthanize you and see the meat to local restaurants.

Certainly you should investigate the location yourself also.
