My husband and I are retired professionals who want to start coming to The Villages as renters. Once we become more familiar with the different areas, we want to buy. We live on the west coast so flying back and forth plus the high cost for rentals will make this plan costly. We’re wondering if there’s a way to find out possibilities i.e. if villagers had an available bedroom & bath that they’d want to rent out for a few months; if snowbirds might want to rent out their home for a few months while not using it; or ?

The most economical way to rent would be a one bedroom furnished villa during the summer months, for the winter you are probably already too late to find anything for this year.

Are you coming down for a week, a few weeks, a month?
Rent in the summer or fall, pick a spot and explore. Hit all the squares, all the areas. Drive around, talk to people. There will be many opinions. You really can’t decide where to buy until you spend some time here. There are lots of places that rent properties. Make sure the place comes with a golf cart and pay the $50 for the IDs. It’s a wonderful place. |

They are trying to avoid costly rentals, trying to find something on the cheap. Maybe try a mobile home in The Historic District to start. If you put a wanted to rent ad in The Daily Sun you might get a few leads. But honestly this is not the year to try finding something that has a low rental figure.
