We enjoy Live Oaks, especially the outdoor services in our golf cart.

New Covenant United Methodist also has a Saturday night and early Sunday morning contemporary service at its campus off 466 behind Publix. I'm not one for contemporary services myself, but we do get a good turnout for them.

I have many friends who love your church too.

An addendum to LIVE OAKS is that it's grown VERY quickly since being in their new building! Many of those who made the one person feel "over dressed" may have been new as well or visiting. If you become "regular" you will see all manner of clothing from shorts to suits (guys) and women the same in their way of being casual to dressy. The music will be blended there without a lot of "glitz". I'd call it more contemporary as it's not with hymns with hymnals and a choir with robes.

That would be in the two a.m. services. For further casual-ness come in your golf cart on Sunday evenings at 4:30 for the outside service. You may either sit in it OR bring a chair.

My church dates back, way back and has three locations here in The Villages..

My God is for everyone and can be found in all places of worship.

Praying the OP finds a comfortable fit. We all love our worship communities. Long may they live.

And the band didn't seem to play contemporary music. They said they were playing requests that day. Is it possible this was just a different week from the type of music they usually play? Also they had an associate pastor giving they message that day, so maybe we need to go and hear the regular pastor?

Or maybe we just come from a very casual church in PA and we're not used to a structured type of church anymore. Our church in PA doesn't even accept members, you just come as you are when you want to come. Our band in PA is contemporary instruments playing all contemporary christian and secular music that fits the message for that day. Our church is so casual they don't even pass a plate for collections, instead they just have a few collection boxes around the lobby. Heck our pastor even wears discs in his ears and has tattoos up and down his arms. I have a feeling he might freak a lot of people out if he was a pastor here in the villages..lol.

So I'm not sure we'll be able to find that kind of church here or not. But maybe we have to give Live Oaks a couple more tries. Hopefully we'll find something we like.

We miss seeing you guys. Hope you're doing well. Any idea when you'll be coming back to FL?
It sounds like Church at The Springs is what you are looking for. They have three campuses, but none that are really that close to Fenney. Contemporary band and very casual dress.

The main campus is in Ocala.

View the sermons to hear the good words and then make your decision.

Both North and South New Covenant churches are very active in doing good works in our community.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. Like I said in my original post I wasn't trying to disrespect anyone's opinion of their church, just trying to find a fit for us.

We've been checking out the online messages and web sites for everyone's suggestions and I think we'll give Church at the Springs a try this week. Really liked how their messages seemed to be centered around today's living.

Please let us know how you liked it. I am a dyed-in-the-wool Presbyterian of the traditional sort, but I am fascinated and like to hear about contemporary services and the people who like them. Also, thanks for describing yourself and what you are comfortable with. Good luck with finding a church that fits your needs. I wish you well.

Ok, it’s not too close to Fenney....but I love my church, The Garden Worship Center. Pastor Norman is the best...knowledgeable, funny, and entertaining. (He wears jeans every Sunday). Great music....wonderful, caring church family...very welcoming. There are 3 services on Sunday...9:00, 11:00, 5:30.
Anyone who doesn’t have a church home come and give us a visit.

The Villages community is certainly blessed to have so many different church options all around it - and I mean good options. I currently live right outside of a large metro area and do not feel I have as many good options as you do down there.

ITango, I wish you all the best in finding a church home that is just right for you.

I also put in a vote on Live Oaks Community Church behind Walmart on 466. They even have a JumbleTron and a service at 4:30 PM that you can watch from your golf cart. Their music minister worked for Franklin Graham and is immensely talented. This church started 6 years ago with 4 people now it is up to around 750. They must be doing something right.
