Default Horse Barn in Hadley

I was playing golf on Hemingway last Friday. While trying to putt on the 6th green, I was almost overcome by the strongest odor of a horse manure that I have smelled in a lot of years. I noticed the horses in the pasture south of the course, but the wind was coming from the west. The smell even followed us under Morse, to #8 tee. Is this aroma present very often? I can't imagine anyone enjoying their patios with the constant smell of horse manure.

Gem, I've never smelled it. I know where the horse farm is and there's also cows there cause they hang over the fence into my neighbors yards, but I've never smelled manure. All I get is the bread baking at Publix... not too bad an aroma in the air?(except when someone burns a loaf)

The horses come up to the fence behind our backyard and we feed them apples and carrots. We have never caught a whiff of horse manure, maybe we are just lucky or up wind.

We love the horses.

"You smell that? Do you smell that? Horse manure, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of horse manure in the morning."

Once there were people who fed the buffalo carrots, now the buffalo are gone.
What do the owners think of you feeding their horses apples & carrots?

They are very happy about it and so are the horses!

We did ask the owners permission prior to feeding their horses.

This topic came up while I was golfing today. Apparently, they were using some type of horse manure(-like) fertilizer on the Havana golf course.

Eau de Trigger
