Default New Homes - just built

Upon viewing newly built homes that are available I noticed some flooring is vinyl and rugs are included.

I guess I am dating myself but when I think of vinyl I think of the old "cheap" flooring that cracks etc.

Have you found the flooring to be of good quality? What about the rugs?

I assume if the home is built there is not much room for negotiating replacing items within the home - ie. if we didn't want rugs we would probably have to hire someone to remove the rugs and lay tile. Comments?

We had vinyl and the least expensive rug installed and pulled it out right after to do laminate and tile. The vinyl was...vinyl...I have to think it is a higher quality vinyl because TV does like to put in decent material. Remember everything is under warranty for a year so they want no problem. The rug was fine. Not unbelievable but certainly adequate. If we hadn't been bringing our own, we probably would have kept it for a couple years and then switched out.

You will not be negotiating.

It is easy enough to find people to do the work. And good work. It frankly probably saves you money to buy the house with the vinyl and lower quality rug and then switch out to what you want exactly.

My opinion of the vinyl being installed is that its appearance is incredible. Many styles have a textured surface and the patterns include "shadows." The result is very realistic looking. Obviously, not everyone will like vinyl, but we are very pleased with it.
