Third group that my husband has played golf with this week is very unhappy they moved south of 466A.....Sooooo crowded, grocery lines 10 deep, golfing is very very difficult and golf range is impossible....I hope this is just seasonal problem.

Very interested in responses as we move to Collier in April. Hopefully it is just because it is all new.

Grocery lines ten deep is a gross exaggeration. It could be that these golfers don't know how crowded it is everywhere in TV right now. Tell them to move to North Jersey and then tell us how crowded TV is! Or hop over to the Gulf Coast, or down to Fort Myers.

Geeze.

I know they are not talking about Sweet Bay 'cause there are never that many people in there. Now Publix at Colony Plaza does get very, very, very crowded, but they have
almost all lanes open and there really isn't a problem checking out. The problem is finding a parking spot and negotiating the store with ALL those shoppers and the employees trying to keep the shelves stocked. It is seasonal, but with build out seasonal may be the new normal.

Maybe pick a different time to shop?

Isn't there another Publix in the works on Powell Rd between 466A and 44? Can anyone confirm and does anyone know if it will be cart accessible?

Yes and yes. Plans for the Publix and adjacent stores were shown in a previous post. It's just west of Brownwood/Paddock Square town center. Golf cart accessible. Site work is underway so it should be open in time for next year's snowbirds.

We are South of 466A and it it AWESOME !!!!!!

Sure there are crowds, some time more than others. But it is vibrant and exciting. So many new folks who love it and are inviting and friendly.

No reason to let a few extra folks cause any heartburn. I don't know about the rest of you, but we were new here once, adding to the crowds

It's not that crowded. 10 deep at Publix is way wrong. Never ever that bad in the store. At worst 1 person ahead of you.

IF their complaint has to do since the 1st of the year...well folks it's the seasonal people who make things busy! I would think these folks knew when they purchased that this community was going to be 100k or better at build-out! Where exactly did they think everyone was going to be?? Yes it is busy at Colony but that said Pinellas is now open and their Walgreens is gorgeous and large so lets go over there AND Sweet Bay is a nice store as well that seems somewhat quiet. The very south end is new so it will take time to add some infra-structure (ie. stores, gas stations etc). In another couple of years we all will be amazed with the progress!!

Again....we're all (or mostly) retired here! What exactly is the hurry? Living here is MUCH better than the alternative wouldn't you say??

Exactly...we moved up here from Cape Coral (by Ft.Myers) and this is seasonal time there also. That was what kept our restaurants, bars, stores and golf courses open so we could enjoy them during the summer months. Yes, it was a bit of a pain, but I guess we're used to it. It's no biggie, and the story as told is somewhat exaggerated, for sure.

We love S of 466A and have quite above neighbors that moved here from other Villages N of 466A.
You want crowds; check out other popular areas like Naples.

Went to SweetBay today 'cause they had a $10 off a $40 purchase. Very disappointed in lack of selection and empty shelves. The only reason I went was because of the coupon which has now been offered two weeks in a row so they obviously are trying to drum up business. But until they can meet the selection and quality of Publix they are beating their head against a wall. When I couldn't find a box of frozen spinach I told my husband if they offered me free food I will never go back to SweetBay.

Nobody goes to Publix at Colony Plaza anymore, it's too crowded there!
