About 20 year ago we were in a Wally World in Sandy, UT. Our then 12 YO son commented on the way out that he lost us in the store for a while and couldn't find us because unlike stores in California everybody looked the same.

The Walmart Neighborhood Market is simply a Grocery store/Pharmacy. With the overcrowding at Colony it will be a nice relief to shop across the street from that chaos at Colony parking situation. And Walmart Neighborhood Markets have rock bottom prices compared to Publix.

Traditional Walmarts have low prices and every strata of the population likes low prices, or should.

Many of us didn't start out with much but were careful with our money.

Many of us don't have to be as careful with our money as we did when we started out, but we still are.

I like that about this place. I like it a lot. We haven't forgotten how we got here.

Yes, competition to Publix and their prices built on their captive market of people who won't shop where their golf cart can't go.

The Walmart Neighborhood Markets are a supermarket with pharmacy, and they look like any other decent supermarket. If you didn't see the brand labels you might think you were in a supermarket in another state that you'd not heard of before.

Competition is good.

Large block between Walgreens and McDonalds. Also large block behind the Medical Buildings but that could create traffic access issues.

I rarely go to Publix at Colony because of the crowded aisles and the rudeness of both the employees and customers. I have never in 54 years of being a Floridian ever seen a Publix run like that one.

Many people have suggested The Villages try for Trader Joe's and other unique retailers. Pretty sad that the best the developer can attract is another Walmart branded store.
I don't see the appeal of shopping in Walmart regardless of prices. Employees can't tell you where anything is and they sure don't care if you find what you're looking for. There are different stores in nice neighborhoods and I think we deserve better. The Villages is not lower class and the newest construction is quite pricey. How do you ask someone to spend over a million dollars on a home and seal the deal by boasting "And, you'll be able to get all your groceries at Walmart Market! "

LOL....Trader Joe's.....and its high-class Two Buck Chuck....

Its frozen "organic" veggies are under recall for listeria along with 41 other "high class" brands for Costco, Trader Joe's and....Walmart, all frozen/packed by the same CRF Frozen Foods operation.

And if somebody's going to "be asked to pay a million dollars for a home", I'm sure they'll have the brains to see the Publix across the street from the new Walmart Market....the Publix opening at Hwy. 44 & Morse in the newest areas....the Publix at Hwy. 44 & Powell (Traverse shopping center by Brownwood).

"Trader Joe's originally recalled a number of organic products, including peas, green beans, broccoli florettes and mixed vegetables on May 3 in connection to a nationwide frozen foods recall announced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and CRF Frozen Foods.
