Default home humidity level

Curious what humidity level and temp you keep your houses at. Some sources I've read say the humidity level should be less than 50, others say 60. Seems too cold to me if my thermostat is set for a humidity level below 60.

I keep my thermostat set at 78 degrees, with no humidity control. The humidity stays at between 45 and 55 most of the time. I see no need to try to control the humidity. And, you really cannot control both the temperature and the humidity unless you have a whole house dehumidifier. Some thermostats have a humidity mode, but, unless you have a dehumidifier, the humidity mode setting will only "overcool" the house by about 3 degrees below the temperature setting to reduce humidity when needed, and your house may get too cold.

I think 60 is the highest you want. Cooling and heating is between 75 and 77.
