Just a one day change to accommodate a cycling event. Here's text of a message from John Rohan that was posted on Va Trace website discussion board:
================================
On Sunday, October 4, 2009, from approximately 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. the
recreation department will be hosting the cycling event in The Villages, and
will be closing some of the roads to make sure we keep our cyclists safe.

- We will be starting the event in front of the Lake Miona Regional
Recreation Center (on Buena Vista). The race route will
continue down Odell
Circle to Morse and back to Buena Vista on Stillwater Trail; which is an
ideal route for the cyclists as well as for their safety.

- For the safety of our participants we will be closing Canal Street on
either side of Odell Circle (north of Odell the road will be
closed at the
Canal Street Recreation Center and south of Odell the road will
be closed at
Ridgeville Road). This will allow the residents of Virginia
Trace to exit
their village on Stillwater Trail, and the residents of Sabal
Chase to exit
their village on Bonita Boulevard.

- There are two Villa Units (Carlton and Hampton) that are located
directly off of Odell Circle; we will be placing a Special Events Team
Member to assist those residents going to and from their homes. Odell
Circle will be a one way street, therefore if those residents are leaving
their homes we would ask they take a right hand turn and head
towards Morse
Boulevard to exit; which also means that during the race times
we would like
to have them enter Odell Circle from Buena Vista to return home.

- We are hoping the traffic pattern change will only be in effect from
6:00 a.m. until noon on Sunday, October 4, 2009.

- Also we will be working together with the Sumter County Sheriff’s
Department to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as
possible. They
will be stationed at the intersections of Odell Circle/Canal Street and
Canal Street/Stillwater Trail to help with traffic issues should
they occur,
as well as, at each of the traffic circles to ensure the traffic flows
continually and the needs of our residents are met.

- Attached to this email you will also find a PDF copy of the Cycling
Route Map.

Of course, as always we are hoping to impact our residents as little as
possible and keep our cyclists safe. Thank you for your help!

John B. Rohan
