Default Newbie questions re TV weather/info resources

1. What is the web address that we go to to get the camera views over the market squares? Someone referred to them on the post about last night's storm. Thank you.

2. Someone else mentioned watching the radar of the storm coming in. Is that an app or a local weather channel or where do you find that? And thanks again.

3. Emergency weather alert - a few threads ago someone referenced an emergency radio and getting the severe storm alerts. Where would I go to find one of those guys? And thanks to anyone who can point me in right direction(s).

I've been here about 9 days now. In California, if we had thunder you maybe got a handful of claps and it was over. Last night was "interesting". Not scary, just different.

Villages web cams-- Lake Sumter Landing Market Square, The Villages

The Villages TV station VNN provides radar of the current weather. It is only on Comcast as far as I know. Channel 2. http://www.thevillagescommercialproperty.com/media.asp

We have one of these for weather alerts. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Midland-WR...Radio/16451519

I lived in Rohnert Park, Belmont, and Pleasanton in the Sonoma, San Mateo, and Bay area for about seven years. And in Reno, Nevada from 1968 through 1983. Scottsdale and Apache Junction, AZ for a few summers.

I use the Intellicast HD iPad/iPhone app for weather...radar and everything else including local or anywhere you want.

Highly recommended.

The Villages, Florida (32163) Conditions & Forecast | Weather Underground
- click on 'wundermap' on the right of the page
- click on tools wheel next to 'radar' in blach menu box
- click next to 'storm tracks' to get check mark in box
when stormy weather is in the area it will show up in the appropriate color of green/yellow/orange/red depending on intensity and it will identify direction of weather with cone shapes; each section of a cone is approx 20 mins away from forecast location.

webcams:
Spanish Springs: Live view - AXIS Q6032-E Network Camera
Lake Sumter Landing: Live view - AXIS 213 PTZ Network Camera
For Brownwood I just use the one at thevillages.com by clicking on the temperature
On the top two cams the program will ask you to download/install the axis viewer - it is okay to do so and only way to get this view; make sure the viewing selection in the upper left corner is set to 'motion jpeg'; if you click the 'view full screen' button under the lower left corner of the pic it will fill you entire monitor screen!; just press the keyboard escape key to return to orig size!

If you get the SS cam working today you can check in on the cruise-in on the square!

I use weather.com for up to the minute weather information. I scroll down to the map and click on "Map in Motion". It takes a few minutes to come up but you can see all of the weather in the past half hour and any precipitation that is around us.

I've only gone to the Squares webcams a few times. I found them to be boring.

Doc - try weather underground with zip code 32159 - gives you FUTURE weather path rather than the PAST!
