He was arrested for fishing in a non-fishing pond.
Apparently he had received previous warnings.
He must really love fishing!
I was very surprised to learn that there are many fishable ponds in The Villages.

Look at the $5.00 map and read the fishing rules from Rec.

I think every place Lake Miona touches T.V. is private property and/or golf course.

That being said ..... there is a county park off C.R. 472 between Bridgeport at Lake Miona and Bridgeport at Miona Shores.

I think it's the dock in the park.
The small park on Lake Miona is open to the public.

rules seem vague. there was a pond not on a golf course, not near the sheriff, not one that ever went dry, not a sewer overflow pond, yet "no fishing" signs were put up and the watchers were called whenever an old guy showed up with a rod and a grandkid. who decides about the signs?

What's vague?

1. All fishermen are required to comply with federal, state and local laws, statutes and ordinances while fishing within the boundaries of The Villages. (Licenses are required for those 16 years of age or older. No license is required for those over 65 with proof of age.) For licensing information visit Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. . Licensing can be purchases at your local Wal-Mart.
2. Fishermen may fish in any lake, canal or stream, whether natural or man made, which can be reached without crossing over or trespassing upon any privately owned property or golf courses.
3. Fishermen are prohibited to fish in Lake Sumter, Harmeswood or other areas with "No Fishing" signs posted.
4. Any person crossing into jurisdictional wetlands is in volition of state and federal law and may be prosecuted.
5. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please call Recreation Administration at 352-674-1800.

The pond was on Sarasota golf course. He (the 19 year old kid) be banned from the villages for fishing at unaurthized places. He knew he was not suppose to on village property yet he done it anyway.

If the state stocks your private pond you may have to give the public access, Thats what they did to my dad many years ago in Florida.
