Once again the lake at the entrance of Alhambra totally drained again. The water levels were rising last week and this weekend it drained again. The Villages haven't fixed the sink hole that keeps draining the lake. With all this rain it hasn't filled back up. I feel for the home owners that once had a beautiful view now all they see is weeds and mud. Does anyone know what is being done fix this problem?

No, the Villages is obviously too busy lowering the levels of the retention ponds nearby, as witnessed by the sprinklers on El Camino Real being on night and day for the last month. Would it take a genius to redirect that water, would it ??? Why am I paying an amenty fee ???

There is a certain area north of 466 where several years ago the residents sued the developer and won an enormous amount of money personally for those who brought suit and also won control of that area by the residents. I would prefer that the Morses be in charge of where I live. For as long as I live. BUT....Even they cannot control sinkholes.

Maybe they should rename it to "Lake Abracadabra"

There may be a reason the pond has been lowered/drained, call DPM and ask the question. Why you are paying an amenity fee is because you are contractually obligated to according to the purchase contract you signed. Why it is even an issue in your post is a mystery as the water retention systems are maintained and funded through the annual maintenance fee we all pay each year with our property tax. Understand your community and how it is funded.

After the sink holes drained the lake it has never fully filled back up. Several of the homes around the lake also had sink holes. I was asking if anyone knew if the lake is going to be repaired so it can naturally fill back up again?

1) call DPM and ask them what the status is, 352-753-4022, or 2) go to the CDD-2 meeting on August 10, 2018 @ 9:30 AM at Lake Sumter Landing in the District Board Room (up the stairs and through the doorway to the right of the receptionist) I would recommend calling DPM first as they would be coordinating any maintenance or repair work and should be able to provide a status. If you are going to go to the CDD-2 meeting give your district representatives a call or email and let them know the issue you want to discuss so they can be prepared with answers for you and have it put on the meeting agenda, otherwise you may need to wait until the following meeting to get an answer. Yours is a legitimate concerns that deserves and answer. There could be any number of reasons for the delay - budget constraints, awaiting contract award, scheduling, ground conditions, or a dozen other reasons. Ask the questions and require answers. One last thought, not every ground depression or erosion is a "sink hole". A "sink hole" is a very specific geological event, the way the term is thrown around here in TV is like calling every rain storm we get a hurricane. Many media outlets here use the term for any ground anomaly in an effort to generate interest, a very poor journalistic practice.

Was not aware there were homes over there that had sinkholes after Irma. I do know people who live there and this is the 3rd or 4th time this pond has drained since Irma. The Villages has attempted to repair this 3 or 4 times now, it starts to refill and then all of a sudden drains. Maybe they should just fill it in and build a putting green !

Better yet, maybe we should enter it in the "Penn & Teller Fool Us" TV magic show. It has demonstrated its ability to fool our Villages "water engineers" several times.

Filling it in is a great idea! The Villages can make it a putt n play. Then the houses on the pond can go from water view to being on a golf course!
