Since you would likely have anti-bodies due to your infection you needn't be in any immediate rush but you might want to get an anti-body test to be sure. Also you should consider donating plasma if you haven't already.

Why weren't you allowed to make a request until 8:06? I was online at 8:00 as well and immediately made an appointment. Was done by 8:03 (I used a form filler app to fill their form as I figured by the time I typed it in manually everything would be gone since I type slowly). The 280 appointments for tomorrow (Thurs) were taken in 8 minutes according to the person who called me to verify my information.

The dose is not the problem, it’s trying to get the 2nd appointment. One would hope when first injection is given you would automatically be given a date for second dose only people, along with a time frame. So healthcare workers have exact date and time to return, I am guessing it’s being done at the sites of first injection for the public

The Eventbrite site always says there are no more openings. How did you get appointment?

Where are reservations being made?

The website posted here is not reservation based. It is first come first served of available tickets.

What makes you think you won’t get it again?

They had 1 hour time slots from 9 AM to 1 PM. I got in the 12-1PM slot in a stroke of luck and timing I guess. I was clicking on the link before 8 AM and it was coming up not found. Just after 8 I got in and made an appointment. They do ask if you take a blood thinner you get a note from your doctor. From what I have seen on the web, it's not an issue for Eliquis.

All those people will be vaccinated before I am anyway. I'm not in the "at risk" group. I'm not over 65, I have no illnesses that make me more at risk than anyone else, and now that I'm retired, I'm no longer an essential worker.

But when it's my "turn" - I'll want to know that people who SHOULD be vaccinated, AND WANT to be vaccinated, were able to get theirs - before I get mine.

Again - just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Having permission to get something doesn't require that I get ahead of someone else who needs it more than I do.

I am ALLOWED to take a seat on the train. But if I see someone who needs the seat more than I do, I'll stand so they can sit.

I am ENTITLED to eat every single apple in the bag of apples that I bought at the supermarket. But if I see someone in passing who appears hungry, I will give them one of my apples.

Because it's the right thing to do.

Well not being in an a "risk" group and not being 65 makes it easy. My question still stands, how would you know that everyone in the essential worker group, the risk group and those over 65 have been vaccinated when your turn comes up. There are essential workers who are not taking the vaccine and it has been stated they will be put to the back of the line. The right thing to do varies depending on what group you are in, what you believe in and yes, your age and that will change as you move into our age group.

In California it's the law to give up your train seat to a senior citizen.

You are Correct. It's not due to the county, it the Feds. I asked about that today when I got my shot. I had originally heard the COUNTY was holding 2nd shots for the 1 month appointment however I was mistaken. I was told they CANNOT hold vaccines by Federal orders and are required to use up every ounce they have. We were told we should contact the DOH in Sumter in a couple weeks to find out their "plan." They also said they might call or email those who were vaccinated but at this time they have no idea. Considering how well organized they were today I'd bet we'll hear from them when the time has come.

Because the appointments are all filled up. They don't have opening if they don't have any vaccines. They don't know when they will get them until a day or 2 before. Check out the DOH website and they will announce the next signup frenzy when they get a shipment. Think of it Like trying to get tickets to see a Broadway show from Ticketmaster. SOLD OUT is exactly what it says.

Was told there were 35,000 attempts for appointments and only about 310 vaccines available and 2/3rds of the cars in line at 10AM had 2 people so that would likely almost halve the number of slots available.

For Sumter county that is not correct for the CURRENT shots. The very first time they tried (Monday?) it was FCFS but that was a disaster so they went to reservations for the 2nd round of available shots given today (Thursday).

This WAS the link: Sumter County Health Department COVID-19 Vaccination Tickets, Multiple Dates | Eventbrite and on that screen click "VIEW DETAILS"

DOH info: Covid-19 Vaccination | Florida Department of Health in Sumter

But since they are "sold out" the link is dead. Currently they won't take reservations unless they actually have a specific number of shots to give. There is no
standby" appointments at least now. Best place to check is on the Sumter county Dept of Health website because when more dates become available they will post the link again as they did Wednesday. The link became active at 8AM Wednesday for today's (Thursday) shots and was "sold out" a few minutes later due to only having around 310 or so available shots after which it showed as "SOLD OUT" because they are basically using a ticket sales site.
