I love those who say they aren't getting it because the vaccine is not FDA approved. Those people hate government agencies and now they make such a silly claim. Remember the FDA approved VIOXX that killed over 60,000 people?

Do these mutations have any effect on the accuracy/sensitivity of the COVID tests? Anecdotally, I'm seeing more vaccinated family/friends getting and recovering upper respiratory symptoms but are COVID negative. |

Politics? These delta breakthrough cases and reports that vaccinated people can carry high viral loads and can spread the virus are the exact opposite of what Biden administration wants to hear. Reverse course and tell the vaccinated to mask up? Not a winning ticket to convince more to vaccinate or win votes. This is the last thing the administration want to see but it's obvious they have seen something that convinced them to reverse course. |

Back in the day, before the MMR vaccine, I remember that when a kid in the area came down with measles, moms of kids who had not yet had measles brought their kids around to expose them, the wisdom being that the kid was going to get measles anyway eventually and to get it when it was planned and more convenient for the family was better than the kid getting it at an inconvenient or possibly dangerous time. Same for mumps and chicken pox. None of us worried much about it; for the overwhelming majority of kids it meant a few days off from school. I don't remember knowing or even hearing of a kid that died from any of the above, though some cases were more serious than others: my chicken pox case consisted of about three spots whereas my brother looked like he had been peppered with birdshot at close range. But the point was that there was no cure, and no good way of preventing it, so the best approach was just to get it over with. Maybe there's a lesson there. |

Yeah, we are ready. We don't mind wearing a mask in Publix. We don't eat at indoor food places. We don't get close to other people. Life is good. |
