Window unit would have helped. Guess we could close a few vents elsewhere in the house

Be very careful closing vents to cool another room. Back up North, my neighbor did just that. He ended up with black mold in the AC due to restricted air flow and excessive moisture build up. Then the unit actually froze, which in turn did more damage....result the AC was totaled and required complete replacement of the AC and all of the duct work.

Check with your AC vendor before closing down on the vents, these units are designed for a specific air flow that goes with the size (aka tonnage) of the unit.
Hope this helps.

You can also use an in room portable A/C unit. Our son uses one in his bedroom up north and they work well. You can buy one at Home Depot, Lowes, or on line.

A portable floor room unit will work well. AC unit in the window would be difficult to hide. On the historical side of TV I saw one in the floor, of course, they had a crawl space.

Oy, shrandell, I feel for you. A friend keeps her place at 82 degrees in the summer and I just can't stay there longer than 30 minutes without sweat starting to bead up on my face. She doesn't have ceiling fans, either, because they make her too chilly.

My ex-husband called me The Furnace because I give off so much body heat while sleeping. I'm the fool you see in February wearing shorts and sandals when it's 50 degrees out.

funny you should say that, my hemoglobin is typically low from all the immunosuppressants I take to prevent organ rejection....small price to pay but I always feel like I've got 1 foot in the 'freezer'.

Better than 1 foot on a banana peel.....lol

Seriously, what kind of organ transplant and how long ago. Your MD might be able to cut back on the meds.

PM me if you don't want to post any info here.
