80 PSI should be the maximum water pressure delivered by TV/Jacobs. All fixtures in your home are rated to take 80psi, this is in the International Plumbing Code. If you're getting 100psi to your house and your toilet started leaking and blew apart would you blame American Standard?
I suspect anyone who is seeing greater than 80 PSI that the expansion tank on your water heater is shot. I have measured the water pressure on at least 500 homes here in The Villages(I am a FL licensed home Inspector) and the only time I ever see greater than 80psi is when the expansion tanks are shot. There are some homes north of Sumter on BV(Lynnhaven and surrounding) that have pressure relief valves and they are often dripping because the incoming water pressure is hitting 80psi. This is a utility problem and it only seems to be in that area. |

Attached is a picture of my final conversion from Nova filter to Express Water. I installed a pressure reducing valve to prevent any spikes in pressure coming in from the street but there is nothing to control any increase in pressure after the filter from the hot water tank for example, except for it's expansion tank. So even with this arrangement the pressure theoretically can exceed 80 psi if something is going on in my home after the filter and softener. But along with the pressure reducer I installed another gauge after the reducer with a "lazy hand", the red indicator, so I can always know 100% the highest pressure my system reached. There are many pressure reducers and the one I purchaced has a removable screen filter and a pressure gauge port. I'm tempted to install yet another gauge with a "lazy hand" before the pressure reducer to see the highest pressure reached coming from the street. BTW, I set the pressure reducing valve to about 65psi. It's hard to set it exactly so I'll have to monitor it for a while.
