Breaking news, just out, reporter at location, people are shopping at Walmart. But wait breaking weather news from our helicopter over I-4, it is raining and I-4 is getting wet.

Seems like no shame among big box stores. Some items were priced lower on earlier sale days. Some have trouble securing health care, but no problem overspending for stuff just to be part of the BLACK FRIDAY scene.

I generally believe you should buy, the minimal stuff you need, as it only clutters the house. Some of the stuff is, something gets to be something you won't touch in years going forward. How many people have had to throw a boatload of stuff away, when moving to TV? I had to do this myself, so I am not picking on anyone.

I think it's sad, that some people need to buy stuff at the minimum cost, and resort to not having respect for another person, and their safety. I guess some people view Black Friday, as a survival tatic.

Mom and some people I know, use to collect figurines as they thought they were beautiful and they are. To dust off these items was a full time job. They were usually dusty after a while as it required too much work. IMHO

I had this same thought this morning. I bought some new socks yesterday and as I cleared my drawer of the old ones I realized they were still good, just not bright, white anymore. Did I really need new ones? Too often we want instant gratification by buying items, socks or big TVs, but really don't NEED them. Going to count my blessings and go to Walmart to buy some pjs and stuff to donate to someone who NEEDS it.

I don't know if this is the case for everybody here but we decided to sell our house up North and it is hard to imagine the amount of stuff we collected. While sitting on our deck discussing the situitation we came to the conclusion that we spend the first sixty or so years of our life accumulating stuff and the rest of the years we have left trying to get rid of stuff. We are giving our prize stuff, family heirlooms, to the kids. What our kids don't want we are offering to our nephews and nieces. The other stuff we will sell and/or give to charities. We defiantly live in a consumer driven stuff country!

I walked into a Cracker Barrel the other day, and their retail store looked like my recent downsizing garage sale. Amazing how much "STUFF" we collect in our life times. Got rid of stuff I've been collecting or saving for 30+ years. Why did I save it? I told my wife, by the time we are done, we'll be able to live in a refrigerator box down by the river.

I have to disagree with your premise. We spent a TON of time with our family and still managed to acquire too much stuff!
