So how long does the $5 one last day, week, month? Or so many toll booth passes?

The $5 is to buy the unit. You then go online and register the unit, enter your vehicle info and credit card number, and they will charge your CC $25 and put that into your account. Then each time you go through a toll plaza, the subtract the toll from your account. When the balance in the account gets low, they will replenish it from your CC. Some states give a discount for using their systems vs cash, not sure about FL, but its all about convenience. I feel its worth it even if I only go to the airport once or twice a year. Also works @ the airport parking garage.

Actually...it does.
Quote:
In essence, $5 buys you a permanent sticker and $19.99 buys you a transponder with suction cups...that can be moved from one vehicle to another. The purchase price does not include a balance to pay the actual tolls...you have to register and add money to your account for that. On Edit: I see Smurphy answered the question also. ![]() |

Thank you. $5 works like a transponder, but it's not portable, but cheaper than the transponder.

One is permanently attached...the other portable. Both need to have money added to the account to use...based on the serial number of the transponder. |

Several times a month we go to Orlando or Melbourne (to visit our son) and we feel that it definitely is much more convenient than waiting in line. There have been several times when the cash lines were backed up a long way and we just drive straight through. There are quite a few toll plazas where you don't even have to slow down when going through the SunPass lanes. Well worth the $5 in our opinion. |
