Default Moving info help?

Hey all! We are finally moving to our new home! I need a bit of info. We will be using a POD to move our few rooms of furniture (and buy the rest there.) I was told I need to have clearance from some entity? The ARC? or the Neighborhood watch? I dont know. But we are down to the last minute here and I'm in a bit of a panic. Does anyone know who I should call to notify about the POD deliver? It will be delivered on a Sat and picked up on Mon. Numbers/names would sure help us. THANKS! This has been a definite learning experience for us both! Can't wait to arrive and DE-stress.

Wow! No replies! I guess I should have hired a mover! Hasn't anyone ever used a POD or similar moving method in the WHOLE Villages population!?

i am sitting in my rental as i type this....my PODS are on the way from NY for our closing on June 10th....i was told when i asked a similar question some time ago...that its ok to use PODS however it cannot be dropped on a street, has to be in your driveway and can only be there for no more than 72 hours

i will test out this information shortly

BLESS YOUR HEART! Thank you for answering. Did you have to get approval first? We did plan to have it dropped in our driveway.
We are coming from MA. You put my mind at ease.
Congratulations on your new home!

We moved down last year and used Pods. Had no problem. Told them when I wanted it dropped and it was there. Hired a couple of unloaders(from uhaul website) and they had it unloaded in a couple of hours. Set up the beds and everthing. I have seen a number of Pods in the Villages so I think they must get it right.

Welcome Home to TV,
POD is fine the only thing is do not block the road as the road ways are not built for it as they need to be open for Fire trucks, Ambulance etc.
and alot of my nieghbors have used them one good thing you may look in to is getting a helper or 2 to unload it make like much easier

Thank you again. I will definitely look into finding help to unload.

I used PODS last july (2008). I planed for 2 pods to be delivered and ran into a problem when the POD driver only wanted to drop one at a time allowing me to unload one and then pick up the empty and droip the second. The only problem was I aranged to have professional movers unload all at one time. The problem as far as PODS was concerned was that he could not fit 2 PODS on my driveway. He would not place any part of them on the street AND even though I have a designer home with golf CArt garage (so a fairly wide driveway) he would not place it on my GRass over the sprinkler heads. I almost got thrown in jail for not allowing hiom to leave before I spoke to a supervisor..and he had the driver take pictures and measurements etc.

Bottom line was my first POD driver was a newbie (first week on the job) and was being overly cautious not to cause liability for his company (even though I told him I would sign a relese about the sprinkler heads). They sent a more expereinced driver with the Second POD and all was OK......but it was frantic at the beginning.

SO lesson learned...make absolute certain you have room on your driveway for how many PODS you expect ..they will not place it on the street even a couple of inches. IF uncertain, plan 2 separate deliveries with the one empty to be picked up while the second loaded one is dropped off....and if you are hiring professional movers to help with the unloading ..plan accordingly. YOu only have 72 hours to get rid of teh POD before Community watch will write you up.

Otherwise all went fine and there was NO up front approvals needed by anyone at the villages to use PODS....they are delivered all the time in TV

Any specific questions just ask!!

Default Brick paver driveway

We were considering using PODS also, but were told that since our driveway has brick pavers, the weight of the PODS may do damage when dropped off... oh, well!

We are using PODS also since we will be in a rental until we find a house. Was told by our Sales Rep to just notify Neighborhood Watch when it is coming.

CTgolfer

If you place the pods directly on the bricks , the PODS "may" break them but the bricks are typicaly laid over a concrete surface and the bricks routiniely are able to handle a 3000 pound plus vechicle. PODs can easily weight twice as much so to minimize or hopefully eliminate any potential damage POD movers carry wood pieces that they can place under the POD braces that displaces the weight of the POD over a larger area. What you were told is correct and you need to be told that to release any liability but POD movers have ways to minimize the problem. The same would be true if they are placing the POD on a grass surface..tehy use these wooden pallets or boards to minimize any indentation in your grass.
