Default $1 per Gal. Using Credit

I buy my gas ever at Sam's Club or BJ's.
Anyone notice this happening around TV?

Have not seen this around the TV area. Circle K's have the most stations here and the difference cash to credit is only 10 cents.

Haven't seen it around here but have seen $0.10 upcharges in one of the Carolinas. Never $1 more so I wonder about that.

Doesn't happen at BJ's and in fact, if you have a BJ's credit card, you get an additional discount at the pump when you use it there.

Across the street they have cash and credit prices that differ by I believe 10 cents a gallon. And if you hook up your checking account to their app, you get an extra discount for using that account's debit card. That's not something I would ever do - give a gas station my bank account and routing number.

In Massachusetts I typically buy my gas at Cumberland Farms, where I get 20 cents per gallon off for using my Cumberland Farms gas card that debits my bank account. The 20 cent/gallon savings is better than any cash back rewards or airline travel points I can get from using a credit card.

10 cents a gallon / $3.00 a gallon = 3.33% increase, about the cost of the visa / amex / mastercard expense to the vendor. .

like to pay at the pump. . . pay for the cost of the card.
love to park at the pump while people wait and stand in line at the convenience store, pay with cash. .

5,000 mi a year, 25 MPG = 200 gallons * $0.10 visa card fee per gallon = $20 per year extra for using your card for every 5,000 miles travelled per year. . .

Deal breaker? for 10 cents no, but for a $1, i would say yes. . . most of these are located in areas with little to no competition, so have cash when you travel, and again, business people making rules for themselves in government suck. .

You think like I do. Cumberland farms used to be only 10 cents per gallon savings, and when gas was close to $5 per gallon the % savings was so small it was a better deal to use the Jet Blue credit card and get the airline miles. But then an Irving gas station was built just down the road from the Cumberland Farms I frequent (drive by almost daily on my way to the YMCA to swim laps) and with the new competition they upped the savings to 20 cents per gallon (competition is a wonderful thing for consumers). At 20 cents per gallon savings and $2.80 per gallon, the 7.14% savings is worth not using a credit card. Dam I miss the bubble, 6 sports pools within 1/2 hour golf cart ride versus a 65 mile round trip in my truck to the nearest YMCA. I spent more $$ on gas the first week I got back up north than I did in over three months at the Villages last winter.

Default Saving money on gas

One thing I can make you aware of. If you purchase gas at BJ's with their credit card, you will save 10 cents per gallon; however, should you purchase gas at Sam's using their credit card, you save 5-percent per gallon. Do the math with gas at $3.00 per gallon. 5% is more savings that 10-cents

is $20 or $40 bucks per year savings worth having additional credit cards? We have like 5-6 cards already, and it's just not worth the extra card for that little savings just for that item. .

Costco gas is top tier and has a nice additive package in it. Sam’s Club does not have top tier gas, or an additive package. According to a deep dive video on YouTube.

Can't wait for the Costco to open so we can stop putting crappy gas from Circle-K in our vehicles. Sure do miss the Shell stations.

Default 7-11

7-11 does a dime per gallon, but you can sign up for their card right there at the pump and save that. We mostly have 7-11s south of 44. Clark’s is now a 7-11.

Sure do miss Sohio and Phillip’s 76.

I only have need for one credit card. I like getting in line at grocery store and person in front of me has to go through 2 or 3 credit cards before on will work.
