I'm having an issue getting the bulb changed on the lamp post. I unscrewed the top bolt but nothing opens.
Maybe stuck but I dont want to break it. What's the magic word? |

Is the house still under warranty? All our bulbs burned out one night, Galaxy came replacing the light itself and sadly even brighter bulbs

OP, I was at bowling and could not reply properly.
How old is the lamp post? If your neighbors are similar, can you ask one of them how they changed their bulbs? There may be other screws or bolts at the bottom holding this together. I have seen units that the top comes off, usually 2 or 3 screws, units that the entire fixture comes off the base with 3 or 4 screws, and a few where the bulb(s) can be accessed from the open bottom of the housing. With some additional info I should be able to help.

I recently changed out my lightbulbs for less bright. I simply unscrewed the top piece and lifted the whole glass unit up off the rod and set on the ground, changed light bulbs and put back glass unit back onto the rod and tightened top piece.

Mine has one big nut on top. Lift the lid. Reach in from the top.
Stuck? Maybe gentle nudges up on the corners, small piece of 2X4 with hammer underneath. Not too much or maybe there is another issue. Like screws you missed. I found the dimmest (for a full-size) LED bulb I could find (lowest Watt equivalent). And WARM WHITE 2700k (Kelvin), so it doesn't sting your eyes to look at it. Most of my nearby neighbors have replaced their bulbs in the past few years. One about 5 doors down is so BRIGHT-WHITE it could be used for the entire neighborhood. Not good - destroys my night vision when I just take a quick look out at night. |

A little off topic but while we are changing light bulbs and you are in a high mosquito are, you may want to consider a yellow rather than white bulb. They supposedly are much less attractive to the bugs.
