Great Post! Very helpful to many of us who are beginning the search beyond RING.

I use Blink cameras and a Blink doorbell. I've used Blink cameras for 5 years. No issues and recommend.

I have a Nest doorbell which I set up since I already had nest thermostats and fire/smoke detectors. It works well, with good resolution. For cameras I went with Blink. They are motion activated but can be manually activated for specific functions. They have two-way audio for communication and temperature detection. The field of view and sensitivity can be adjusted to limit unwanted activation from things like street traffic. I have nearly 20 cameras, inside and out, all on one cloud account for $10 + tax per month. The cameras are often on sale, and I think I paid about $40 each. The video clips are also stored on a USB drive locally. The cloud storage is good for 60 days. We travel a lot, but I only arm the system when away from home. The lithium batteries have lasted over 2 years. They can also be set up to be powered by a USB power source. The system is sensitive enough to detect small rabbits as well as large buck deer in my back yard at night (infra-red). The system has allowed me to monitor home repairs and snow removal when away. It also allowed me to detect a fraudulent termite bait station inspection while I was in Iceland and gave me evidence for discussion and resolution with the company management when I returned home. Not possible to get within 10 ft of my house without me knowing. Not perfect but a very good system.

We have WYZE cameras inside and outside. Very reasonable, many options.

Same here. I have their alarm, doorbell, as well as several cameras.

Monitoring for the alarm also include storage of the camera video.

We have the Ring doorbell and a couple cameras that cover blind spots and a gate. 1 camera is hardwired, 1 is plugged in and one is battery (recharged with solar panel).
Initially they would go off line at the drop of a hat, after doing some research found I need a better wifi signal.
Moved to a 2 node mesh network and shut off the signal from the cable company router.
Now they work great. The battery powered one is about 50ft from the node it it still gets full signal strength.

+1 for Eufy for the exact reasons mentioned:

** Very easy to set up with no fees (lots of YouTube videos avail.)
** A lot of solar charged WiFi cameras
** Often have deals
** easy to set up/install

I have had Arlo sometimes hard to connect to your network, if you loos power they don't alway go back on line. Have used Blink quality questionable and you can not review past footage if the camera is not tripped and the fottage they do collect is questionable as well as not great night vission. Ring is my favorite you can review past footage , quality is good enough you can see numbers on a license plate.

Ring camera re-act to movement too slowly. In many situations, the object is already out of view before the video is activated and notification alerts are sent to you. Seek a system that is pre-recording before the object is recognized.
