It’s tough when one tries to get away with doing what they shouldn’t, no?

And it's fine when the county punishes him for renting one year. The punishment is non removable in later years. That part of the house is like it was resold the one year he decided to rent for. Taxes are rarely fair and amicable.

Yes, I agree but they might be thinking once a cheater, always a cheater. What kills me is when they say ignorance of the law is no excuse. I mean, sometimes one really doesn’t know every single regulation.

It galls me for you to use the word 'cheater' -- our world is full of new taxes and codes that you have to be a lawyer to even comprehend, let alone know about. One can live in their home and come up short paying bills so they want to rent a room to make ends meet. We don't need govt folks coming in a reassessing our place ever. You must have worked in govt or taxation in your previous life.
Another example is the FL tax on rentals. Used to be 30 days or longer was exempt from collecting tax for. Then it became 3 months. Now its six months or less you have to report to county tax collector UNDER PENALTY OF JAIL TIME.

No, never worked in gov’t, I was just speculating. The penalties seem pretty stiff, I must say.

Guess i will just continue to ignore.

In my area Only in CYV and maybe patio villas where the roads are too narrow for street parking, also diamond lane streets. I don’t understand why the have to park on you’re grass? Plenty of room in street at least in my area.

Why they have all the tax codes and exemptions so they get out of paying taxes. That’s why flat tax will NEVER be passed. So the tax cheats can hire lawyers to get them out of paying taxes. Why? Cause lawyers write tax laws for rich.

Community standards should know or be able to direct you to appropriate department.
Good luck!
If the neighbor is renting one or more room to a non family member, while living in their home, then they are violating two deed restrictions. First, the home is not being used as a single family residence, and second, they are running a business out of their home. Call community standards.
