Hubby still remembers them from his childhood. He calls them punchky.

Sounds like a fasnacht to me, w/o the jelly filling. I spent every year making fasnachts on Shrove Tuesday as part of my wonderful PA Dutch upbringing.....can still smell the aroma of those rising in the kitchen and then frying them up in lard, of course!!

I just finished up our last paczki's last night. Bought two of each, bavarian cream, lemon, red raspberry, black raspberry. Been working on them, slowly since Saturday.
Talk about a sugar fix!!

Hi Judylou, we actually lived in Maumee, right off the 16th green of Brandywine Country Club for the last 12 years. I agree, it is much better here than in Toledo!

There is a polish deli in Leesburg on 441 right after the "Y" in the road on your left is a small plaza. They're ok but I still make my own.
