It's just a car, I drive mine into the ground, my Civic and CRV get washed maybe once a year.

Default ceramic coating on z4

[QUOTE=

Perfection Auto Detailing and Ceramic Coatings right here in Wildwood, across from Brownwood. They have been in business for many years in Leesburg but have recently moved to Wildwood in the past couple of years.

The difference I found with this shop is althought their prices were competitive with most of the other shops

Chais, the owner is also very easy to work with and he does everything he can to make sure you are happy with his work.

I got a quote from them to ceramic coat my z4 but ultimately went with Total Recon of leesburg. (866) 239-6852. They exceeded my expectations and my car looks better than when I picked it up new 6 months ago. They were less expensive than PAD. Check out out Total Recon

It’s good that you were happy with your job. But you need to be careful. In this industry I found you get what you pay for. Yesterday I met someone who showed me their quote from a shop in Ocala for the same exact work I had done at the shop in Wildwood. Their quote was a couple hundred less than mine but reading the contract they weren’t doing paint correction and the product they were using was cheaper and not as good. This doesn’t mean the work my friend’s quote stated was no good, but the shop wasn’t doing the exact same job with the same quality materials and chemicals.

Sometimes people get quotes thinking the job and materials are the same when actually they might not be and they go with the cheaper price.

I went there. Chase was a really nice guy. Problem is i could not find a package that provided me a reasonable cost for the product i was receiving. The product i wanted was $30 a bottle more but the price jumped $500. Usually takes less than a bottle to coat the average suv. With all things being equal, labor, prep, i could not justify the price increase and did not want a inferior product.

I use the spray on from Turtle Wax, takes about 20-30 minutes, I do it every 4 months.

A lot of these coatings can be very expensive and like anything, it's hard to tell whether they are worth the price. There are also so many coatings that it's very confusing.

There are a lot of YouTube videos where Obsessed Garage or Pan the Organizer and other real reviewers where you can get some guidance. But I agree, this is my first time getting ceramic coating applied by a professional so, I'll have to see for myself if it's really worth the money to get it. I know a couple of people who cheaped-out so I will be able to compare my car with there's over time.

Another thing I want to say about ceramic coatings, some you can't easily purchase unless you are an accredited installer. This means you were trained and take the necessary steps to apply the coatings as per the manufacturers instructions. This is to insure that it lasts the amount of time the manufacture specifies and guarantees.

I think the decision is do you spend the money up-front to ceramic coat the car and then don't ever have to worry about waxing it for many years Or do you wax the car a couple of times a year yourself and save the money.

In my case, all my adult life I've washed and waxed my cars with pretty good results but at my age now, I feel it's time to take a break from this type of work. And again, some enjoy doing it themselves and that's a personal decision. And finally there are those who absolutely don't care about any of this and either just use a car wash or just do nothing and this discussion is not for those people.

Please report your findings in the future. I'd like to know if they "cheaped-out" or if they were just smarter.

As mentioned, applying ceramic coating is only to reduce the amount of maintenance you need to do to the car. So, if you enjoy polishing and waxing your car that's great. If you don't enjoy that work then ceramic coating may be a solution for you. And if you don't care about your car's finish, don't wash it until you can't see out the windshiled and just drive it until it's all used up, then this whole discussion is not for you.

Keeping your car's finish looking good is both for personal satisifaction and it can help you sell your car privately if you are asking a premium for the car. That's it. You do not get your investment back and if you trade your car in, they won't give you anymore money.

The one thing I did discover even more is that it's very important to prep the car before applying the ceramic coatings. If the paint isn't prepped properly it won't last and the preparation is the most labor intensive part of the process.

We recently took a vehicle to polished to perfection in Wildwood for window tint. They did 6 windows in a large vehicle with ceramic coating and it was about $900. They did very nice work, there were a couple of blemishes they addressed quickly and efficiently. I'm not as pleased with the coating performance as I'd hoped but their work was top notch.

I got claybar/coating kit and clay barred and coated my 14 year old Honda which still runs and looks like new, really Not that hard. I imagine most don’t keep car pass 3 or 4 years and don’t see need? Cost me around 19.95 for kit if I remember? And about 3 to 4 labor…

Yes you can DIY and get fairly good results. But you bring up a good point. Many here in the Villages are leasing so no need to spend any money on expensive costings if you are going to turn it in, in 3 years. Three years of automatic car washes or no washing and just leaving it out in the rain should keep the paint looking like it just came out of the showroom.

It’s the long term exposure to the Florida sun that is the problem.
