Default Panjo?? Is this new that there is a "fee" for selling?

We sold porch furniture last year, and it was just between buyer and seller. No "paypal" fee. Is this new? I don't have a paypal account. Is there a way to avoid this "middle" step? Please email privately. Thanks

This is an area that still has to be addressed by the Admin. There is NO FEE for selling on TOTV. Panjo is a classified service that is subscribed to by forums as a way to value-add the forum. Many of the forums utilize the full Panjo approach. TOTV does not.

TOTV (I think) intends to modify the code to take out some of the standard wording that is so confusing and does not apply to our use of the Panjo format on this forum.

As far as Paypal goes, it is by far the most efficient way to sell/buy online. No one ever sees your individual credit card information. Paypal also has a guarantee program to keep you from getting screwed by the Seller.

The other day I bought a vacuum cleaner. I could not understand the Pango terms of agrement and did not want to spend the entire day sorting it out.

Those terms are the part that is hard to understand. Those terms do not apply at all. I suspect that Panjo will not give the source code to TOTV and it is not a priority for Panjo to make the changes on behalf of TOTV.

There are no fees for using the Panjo software on TOTV. You do not need to use PayPal. If you choose to use Paypal you may have their fees.

So if I see something I would like to buy, agree to pay the asking price and use Panjo does this mean no one pays any fees to anyone if I don't use PayPal?

Does this also mean that the seller should consider the product sold?

Can the buyer change their mind for any reason?

I'm not trying to play with the rules or terms, I just want to understand them.

Now you know why I have walked away from several items on this site.

I suggest you just ignore the "Buy Now" and contact the seller direct, as always. Simple.

No fees from Panjo or TOTV.

If seller agrees to take Paypal, then they pay a fee to Paypal.

If you decide to pay with Paypal, you do so without a fee.

If you click Buy Now, the seller is supposed to acknowledge that you are the sole buyer.

It would help if sellers would just follow the procedures as laid out by Panjo.

Generally, a buyer can always decide to change their minds until funds exchange hands.

If you do what you suggest and another buyer clicks Buy Now, he owns it.

I sure wish that those who are confused by the Classified setup would enumerate exactly what creates the confusion.

I have used paypal for years and have never had a problem. There are no fees that I am aware of. They make their money from your funds that you have on deposit. It you charge something on paypal and it is over $99 you have six months to pay for it without interest. I use the $ on deposit to send cash to my daughter that needs a little financial help. The card is free and she can withdraw all the funds that I have put on her account. It was designed for students, but anyone can have one of these cards. NO FEE. This is the safest way to buy online!

You are right. I forgot that even the person (seller) receiving the money does not pay a fee to Paypal. It is usually the website like Ebay that charges a selling fee and in the instance of TOTV, they are not charging anything for transactions originating from this forum's classifieds.

From the website:

There's no fee to use PayPal to purchase goods or services. However, if you receive money for goods or services (such as from selling an item on eBay), the fee for each transaction is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you receive.

Do you mean that while I am in the process of communicating with the seller, another person clicks Buy Now, and I would lose the item? I suppose that could happen.

That's the way I understand it, not a very good system, it seems. I'm not sure what was wrong with the way TOTV did it before Panjo. It felt much more "home town"... local. A buyer delt directly with the seller...
