I use PayPal for buying not for selling. You never want to link your bank or finance institution to PayPal or anything like PayPal. You need to provide PayPal a credit card for purchases but anything you sell, your money can sit in PayPal to pay for future purchases or just have them mail you a check for $1.25.
Also, watch out using PayPal when selling items unless you have your buyer use friends and family purchases. After the sale, the buyer can destroy the item they bought from you and then ask PayPal for their money back and 99% of the time, PayPal sides with the buyer, and the seller will have to refund the money and get a non-working item back.

To those of you who just have to say "this information is available on PayPal website" ............ yes I am sure it is, but it is so much easier to just come here and hve someone tell me in words of one syllable.
BUT - can you rely on info received on this site? Just saying.

Go into your Pay Pal account and in payment method delete your bank.

As a buyer I can't t fault PayPal at all, and find it the safest way to purchase.

Ebay does not use paypal anymore. They sold it and then stopped using it and compel you to use a bank account for owed payments. I had to open a separate account. The new administration is trying, or has already, made any payments on Venmo of $600 for the year reportable to the IRS. Start using cash again.

Good luck! No help from PayPal after notification of attempted hack from China. Tried to remove bank and credit card info. Ended up closing 25 year PayPal account.
Still receiving messages from them of attempted hacks and intrusions!

You must have a different type of eBay account to me.
I still have the option on payment, and only use PayPal for any eBay purchase.

Posts are typically all over the place. To OP YOU can get a phone number for paypal and ask them. My logo is DAVES But. DAVES said, or any other pseudo-name is good of a laugh should it not work for you.

I sold quite a bit on ebay before we moved. That was a while ago. Most people pay with paypal. Buyers will not pay loss insurance because they know paypal will always side with the buyer. A claim not delivered even with proof of delivery. A claim damaged in transit or whatever is claimed and they will take from the seller and return the money to the buyer. Returned items the seller gets to pay shipping round trip. Tax-today you must collect tax applicable to the ship to destination and pay it.

Fees to ebay tend to be high. I just bought an item from a manufacturer. He had it listed on ebay with a link to his own site. I bought it from his site and it was 5-10% cheaper.

Agreed. 22 years using PayPal mostly selling on eBay (which eBay no longer uses for seller payments since they have their own direct payment system now) and have had only one problem about 15 or so years ago when a buyer claimed what I sent him was just an empty box. As you stated as a BUYER it's probably the safest way to go because buyers are NEVER wrong even if they are.

The messages you receive might be phishing messages from scammers rather than real notifications from PayPal. Phishing messages try to fake you into believing they are coming from a legitimate source but are really from fraudsters (con men) trying to trick you into giving your personal or log in information.

Spam vs. Phishing - What's the Difference Between Them? | Webroot

To detect a phishing message, hover over the link in the message (e.g., “click here to log into your account”) and read the URL address. If the URL is not PayPal in your case, the message is likely a phishing attempt.

I get phishing messages frequently pretending to be Amazon or financial institutions that I don’t do business with. Deleting phishing messages is all one can do. They are somewhat similar to spam messages and not much to do to stop them.

Nailed it! That’s exactly what is going on. There are two more things you can do to protect yourself.
1. Never click on any link in an email notification.Do even more than delete it….. Move it to JUNK. (On Mac’s, I’m sure androids have a similar file) After two trips to JUNK your computer will recognize this and automatically JUNK this type of phishing.
2. For any site where you do financial transactions, always go directly to that site. Sign on, you will find out there if is any problem with your account.
