We're considering a designer home. I know (according to our TV agent) that there are several in inventory and deals to be made. My understanding is if you buy a home already constructed, closing is 30 days.

Does anyone know how long to close if you use the Personalized Package program? I'm assuming these homes are built from scratch and built to your specifications.

Has anyone used this program? Or does anyone know how long it takes for them to build the home.

We purchased using the selection process, colors, kitchen etc. Our closing is at the end of May which ended up being about 120 days from when we completed the paperwork.

BG, thanks. Were you able to really customized or was it limited? Did you have a choice of gas or electric?

Hi Nanci:
We had a few things that we could select; There are a couple options for the front facade, along with the color of the house. Add a golf car garage or extend the width of the garage. Extend the lanai. Inside you can select from about six or so kitchen counter/cabinet setups-each one comes as a package we could not mix and match. There are three or four options for appliances. The new areas where they are now building are all electric, so gas was not an option.
Hope this helps, there may be other areas where you can customize, not sure. When we went through this they had just began with this new selection process.

Just one more question if you don't mind - are the offering any deals on personalized packaging? Meaning, they are offering incentives and 'deals" on homes already built. Are they doing the same if you customized the way you did?

Howdy folks, We just bought a designer in Hadley, took advantage of the deals on inventory homes. We figured that the developer could do a better job than us of picking the things that work in their houses. That made it easier for us to just pick the house that we liked. After looking at the available inventory with our Villages sales rep, we bought the perfect house for us and close in April.We are looking forward to living the dream in June when we move in. :bigthumbsup:

We priced a home out in the personalized package, and it did come with incentives, like the pre-built homes. That was before March 17. I don't know if everything is the same since that date.

Just wondering about the choices on homes. Will the builders work with you if you don't want something of theirs, like.buy your own light fixtures or cabinets. countertops, etc. to be installed by your handyman? Will they give you a credit and allow it, if done by closing? There are so many things in the houses that could be so much more attractive with just a little change. I see the same dining room light fixture in dozens of pictures of TV houses and you can buy it at Lowes and Home Depot for about 30 bucks.

From my understanding of the process, they will not work with you. Anything you want changed will have to be done "after market". You get to choose an interior and exterior "package". No individual choices or details.
