Regarding old movies, I remember when I first moved here in 2022 that the Sharon had classic movie series they would show in the afternoons- that stopped abruptly, so I guess that was not profitable. I also attended the monthly “Film Noir” club at the Savannah last year, showing great classics, with commentary before and after the film with a film historian - that seemed to be well-attended, but alas seems to have also stopped.

Tonight, Old Mill is screening the 1975 classic “Jaws” - I may attend that - granted you could watch at home - but nothing like watching a movie on the big screen with a big bucket of movie popcorn - makes for fun night out!
Jaws is a good tip. I may go to the matinee. I've only seen Jaws on TV, never in the movies.

Great idea. Wonder if I could get my wife to sign up as a participant. Beats watching a movie any day

As the demo resets here...who knows, maybe all of these suggestions will be a reality at some point. As long as the patrons don’t mess up the landscaping!

Why have two active theaters when one is obviously more than filling the bill?

Second the petition approaches this as all-or-nothing. Not even close. AMC Lake Square 12 in Leesburg is only about 2.5 miles farther from Brownwood Paddock Square than Lake Sumter Landing is, with better traffic flow. There are other theaters in the area as well though admittedly with a bit longer drive.
I prefer AMC with comfy seats, order pick your seat tickets online, roam the mall, books a million, then stop at Donut King. Nice trip!

You mean like "Gone with the Wind"???
Let's see, no gay characters, no transgenders, no propaganda promoting global warming, and a historically accurate portrayal of the times. Horrible movie, glad they basically banned it.

I really miss Lazy Macs (Comedy shows, trivia, piano, etc). I also really enjoy the Studio Theater and these shows are sold out and difficult to get ticket to. Just a thought, dear developer...

Once upon a time went to the movies for entertainment. No interest in being preached to by people who have an agenda

I used to take them to the Brownwood Theater. It was so much fun to get ice cream afterward and nice to see their faces away from their phones and tablets you foolish old people that think no one cared about the Brownwood theater.
Perhaps the above-quoted comment should be directed to the powers-that-be who actually control such things. It should carry a tremendous amount of weight in the decision-making process (assuming there IS one, I suppose) regarding whether or not the theater in Brownwood should re-open.

That decision was already made over a year ago - the theatre is NOT reopening. This so-called petition is a waste of time and will bear no fruit.

The irony, of course, is that the "agenda" is being preached by people whose ONLY demonstrable talent is pretending to someone they're not.

Agree ! I do the same thing, absolutely shocked at what they allow on that site, especially the derogatory names they allow people to post for black people; first time I saw that actually could not believe it. But, it's like a train wreck to me, say I'm NOT going to look at it, and then I go back in a couple weeks and look ! Their "journalism style" is amazing too, printing the brand, model, price of everything, and often printing a lot of really strange details about people... but like you commented, it works for them because I forget about it for a month or two, and then go take a look !
