Default Fresh Fish Markets

Does anyone know if there is a seafood market near The Villages that might have fresh Amberjack?

Amberjack is not on their list of fresh fish they carry, but you can call them at 407-271-3432 and see if they can get it for you. Also see my other recent post on Lighthouse Seafood... https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...556-post5.html

I'm really curious why you would want Amber Jack. My experience living in S. Fla. for 59 years has been that all jacks are not really good to eat. We always threw them back in.

Yes, I wondered about that too. When I hear the word "Amberjack" I think of ciguatera poisoining. Guess it depends on the size and the waters they are caught in.

If you have never had grilled Amberjack you have really missed out on a treat. I usually get Amberjack Filets at Joe Patties Seafood Market in Pensacola, Fla and always grill it. It is really good!

I was raised inland in Ohio so fresh fish is something that I didn't have growing up. On Fridays we had Tuna and Noodles and Salmon Patties out of a can.(AND I still love those dishes)

Now that we live here, I think Publix has nice Talapia, Haddock, Tuna, Salmon and Catfish. It is always delightfully fresh with no odor. Yum.

Gracie, you should try more of the local gulf seafood like snapper, flounder, grouper, or king mackeral. My mouth's watering just thinking of them! A lot of people on the northern Florida gulf coast like mullet also but it's not one of my favorites.
And if you're ever in Pensacola, Joe Patti's Seafood (like the previous post mentioned) is a place to behold!

CaptJohn - I totally agree! My mouth is watering too! Fresh fish is so wonderful - very sweet and delicious. If we're ever in Pensacola, will have to check out Joe Patti's Seafood. Thanks for the heads up.

Joe Patties + the seafood markets in Destin and South Walton County in the Panhandle

Right out of the Gulf and wonderful. One big thing I miss.
