Default Pickleball

We want to begin competitive pickleball. What is the process to get started? Are there "under the lights" times for workerbees like us? Thanks in advance for the pickleball how-to info.

RS,

To my knowledge, there are no pickleball courts with lights. There might be some north of 466 that I am not aware of.

Competitive...there are scheduled leagues...I believe the Fall signup for leagues occurred a couple of weeks ago. Call the rec dept to find out.

As an aside, just the other day Handie and I were talking about scheduling an informal, unstructured TOTV pickleball gathering...probably during the morning though (sorry about that working people). We'll start a new thread when details are nailed down.

Hi 07 ... I'll be in TV in mid-November. Would you be so kind as to add me to the list when you start one? Thank you.

What do you mean by "competive" ? If you are already an advanced player then I would suggest you come to Saddlebrook any morning 8 to 9am including Saturday and Sunday. I believe that Hacienda is the other area that advanced players congregate.

If you are an intermediate player then you can go to almost any rec center that has pickleball from 8 to 9am and find some good competition.

If you are just beginning and want to learn the game, then look in the Thursday rec news in the daily sun. The villages has a great 3 step process to get you into the game. First is Beginner Lesson, then Beginner Structured Play, then Beginner Organized play. The first 2 require advanced sign up. Just call the rec center where the lesson is held. These go on almost every day now except Sunday. And are free.

Also the Florida Senior games will be held for Pickleball Dec 6-8 in Cape Coral.

By competitive I mean we want to learn how to play so we can get into leagues. We have never played and I heard there is a process to go through, including a waver to be signed (which seemed odd).

See my comment then that starts "If you are just beginning...........

If you are down in the newest area of the villages, I teach the second of the three step process , beginner structured play, at Truman rec center every friday at 10:00 am. I believe they teach the first step , beginner lesson, on wednesdays.

We are all suppose to sign the waiver yearly. It is suppose to protect the villages from legal action.

Hope to see you there. Pickleball is the greatest
