75 Yds - Hole number 5 Hill Top. Where is the cut off ? 80 yd 90 yds 95 yds 104 yds 118.6 yds ? Does uphill or downhill count ? With or against the wind ? So as to distinguish my 75 yd shot from the tee that ended in the hole is not a legitimate "hole in one" I'll simply call it an "ace".

The club I managed, had a single Green that was longer than 75 yards.

When you knocked in a Putt from one end to the other, we called it "nice putt", not a "hole in one".

USGA approves Hole in one on both Executive and 18 courses. Congratulations to anyone who can play golf at any age and enjoys the sport. One learns many lessons on a golf course. Good sportsmanship is one lesson I have learned. Cheers to the group that celebrated the players Hole in one. That is what the game is all about.

Goody for you. Goody for your club with the green that was longer than 75 yards.

We'll defer to you and your club before we do any celebrating here. We wouldn't want to have any fun or excitement of which your boys at the "Country Club of Really Large Greens" would not approve.

Reminds me of the other day, on #8, Mallory-Virginia. The tee box is close to the pickleball courts. From the courts you could hear whooping, laughing, and human sounds I would associate with happiness, and fun. I commented to my playing partners , "hear that? Hear that laughing, and joking, and general happiness? That's pickleball. Thank goodness we don't go for that nonsense on this side of the fence, where we recognize that our recreation is an exercise in futility, anger, and frustration."

It's good that we honor places like "The Country Club With Really Big Greens" and members thereof to remind us of our plight.

It’s a TV hole in one. No such thing as a pitch and putt or executive golf course hole in one.

Hopefully, Pickleball is giving out "Participation Medals".

Many times those are called birdies or eagles so there is already a name for hole outs from the fairway. And yes those are also celebrated.

give them a break… depends on the ability of the player. I play with a 68 y/o with Parkinson’s on wednesdays, if he 50 hops it into a hole from 75 yards, he deserves his name in the paper. My sister in law never held a golf club and holed a 175 ft putt at one of the putting course, everyone around was thrilled and cheering… she will remember the one shot of a life for her. Me, my shot of my life, I have one double eagle on a 535 yard hole, take that and it never made it to the paper :-) . My wife has one that bounced and rolled from about 100 yards in Maui, the course gave her a pin flag. So championship courses from the tips to putting courses, let them celebrate, It;’s the villages, congratulate them.

Food for thought - perhaps the hole in one golfer pictured at the pitch and putt is handicapped and is playing to his or her ability as a courtesy to you by not playing the "big boy" courses and slowing play. You want to tell that golfer it wasn't a hole in one.
